    Ashley's CI surgery

Thank you. She has not had her surgery yet. She has hearing aids but they are no help and she pulls them off as fast as I get them on. With nothing she is still very vocal. She babbles, laughs, giggles, and makes other sounds. I am afraid that once she has the surgery if she is used to hearing...

    Ashley's CI surgery

I have a question. Ashley is very vocal now. Sometimes very loud. I worry that after the surgery she will go quiet on me. I am not sure if she hears herself or just feels the vibrations from her sounds. Has any one had any experience with the child going quiet until after activation? This was...

    Ashley's CI surgery

What the percentages are I am not sure. I feel from my own observations that it is growing in popularity. I have talked to more parents who's kids are bilateral users than not. Most that I have talked to wish they had done the second implant sooner or say that they wish it could have been done...

Thanks that would be great. She is a real hand full. She has invented a few of her own but I am trying to teach her a few of the basic signs.

    Ashley's CI surgery

I would like some feedback on teaching a visually impaired toddler sign. She is a real challenge. We can get her to pay attention for about 60 seconds or less. She gets disinterested real fast. I want her to learn but her vision has caused us to hit a bump so to speak. Any suggestions?

Father Confused on Coclear Implant Decision

I understand that !!! I was faced with the same decisions for my daughter. She was born preemie and severe to profound in both ears. It was like a wrecking ball hit me in the chest when it was confirmed that my daughter was deaf. We have gone through testing and hearing aid trails and more...

    Installing a Husband

INSTALLING HUSBAND Dear Tech Support, Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance -- Particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0...

    Ashley's CI surgery

Ashley's doctor told us her speech and hearing would be better and easier for her to understand with bilateral. She will have an easier time knowing where sounds come from and it will be easier in noisy environments. For school that would be a big plus. From what I am learning from local parents...

Why adults choose CI's for their children

I second that and I was nearly in tears as I read your post. It was very moving. I can feel the love that you have for your child through your words. I know first hand how heartwrenching it is to put a infant through any surgury so I know it's not a decision that is taken lightly. Anybody that...

Why adults choose CI's for their children

Thank you so much. Ashley is already a strong willed little girl. Sometimes too much for her own good. I just felt I should let it be known that not all of us take things so lightly. We struggle with decisions that have to be made. I have had to quit a 14 year job so Ashley gets to all of her...
