Vonage Forum Member Of The Week: GraysonPeddie

I clicked the link you provided then clicked the link to some of the threads you've participated in, I think it's funny that the top thread is one you started to find out how to cancel your vonage account. I also noticed that Vonage customers can use 511. It turns out Packet8 users can't...

Uploading a video into the computer

you won't get 7.1 MP frames of video, it's just not possible but the camera does give you 640 × 480 at 30 frames per second, which is size and refresh rate of a standard NTSC TV signal.

Handle Public is Easy, How to Handle Family is Hard

I'm in the same situation, I'm hoh with progressive loss, (my significant other is hearing) and each of my parents (on separate occasions) have told me it's rude when we sign. A couple of years ago we were at a big family function and while everyone was eating I tried to have conversations...

Uploading a video into the computer

I have a Kodak easyshare C743. (about $150 at wal-mart) it's a 7.1 megapixel still camera and the video mode takes very good quality video. (at least VHS quality) I've had no trouble uploading the videos to youtube, and I can also convert and burn the videos to DVD and it looks great on the TV...

    Insurance On New Hearing Aids

I think there is a bit of confusion here. It's true that your hearing aid can be covered (in case of damage like fire) by your home owner's or renter's insurance. but that doesn't do anything to help you pay for a new one. If you need help paying for new hearing aids try VocRehab. They...

The Results Of My Tests At UNC

I don't have a CI, and I don't wear a hearing aid, currently. I can hear far too well in my good ear to qualify for a CI , and even when I get to that point I don't think I will get a CI anyway.

The Results Of My Tests At UNC

that's impressive, as a comparison I had my hearing tested again last week and my speech recognition score was 75%, (for my good ear I'm completely deaf in the other) my hearing loss is post-lingual, so if a pre-lingually deafened person can get over 80% I'd consider that impressive.

    Computer & TV Programs

Since moving to a new apartment, I've no longer had cable TV. (at the last apartment basic cable was included) So far my girlfriend and I are getting by with Netflix. I think it's a great alternative to cable TV. We're on the "4 at a time" plan which cost about $25 a month, a lot less than...

    Is Superman gay?

Pffftt! That means nothing. My high school band/music teacher (a woman) was married to a gay man. They ended up getting divorced but they had children. Gay men do marry women from time to time.

    Self Inflicted Deafness

they don't give a rat's butt about sign language or deaf culture/community they just wanted to not hear and have hearing aids. some people get off with whips and chains, others like to stab their brain with a Q-tip.

    Self Inflicted Deafness

Other than the mentally ill people already mentioned, the nearest to "self inflicted" is going to fall under categories like musicians (ie "rockers" who diddn't bother to protect their ears) and other accidental causes of deafness, (severe head trauma can cause deafness but, it usually takes...

    Self Inflicted Deafness

A while back I was looking for deaf email lists and message boards and came across a yahoo group called "deaf wannabes" I couldn't believe my eyes at first and joined just to see what the hell went on in that group. The stuff they talk about is how to fake hearing tests so that they can get...

Software or DVDs to learn English?

Start learning Thai now. If your stepdaughter is going to live in the US, she will need to learn English to be successful. However, it's far more important that you are able to communicate with her. She can read and write Thai, why can't you learn to read and write Thai? (and learn to...

Approaching a door: Somone who is not deaf/HOH

I thought a regular peephole might be hard for you to use which is why I posted the link, In the last three apartments I've been living in they all had peepholes in the door. You should be able to have a special peephole installed even if you're renting. It's an equal housing issue. If...

Approaching a door: Somone who is not deaf/HOH

This is what the "peep holes" are for. Also you could install a chain if you don't have one already. you might be interested in something like this Image Wonders Enterprises it seems more user friendly for people who would have trouble with regular peepholes.

    New total invisible hearing implant?

It looks just as invasive as a cochlear implant (thus the risk of meningitis is probably about the same). Plus it runs on a battery.. that means every 4 to 5 years they have to cut your head open again to replace the battery. I don't like the sound of that. I don't really think this is good or...

Good news from Sprint for Deaf and HOH

Is there any way we can mark these advertisements? Maybe make some kind of rule that they need to say "advertisement" in the thread title or something. While that's a one of the better prices I've seen for an unlimited data plan and a blackberry, its not good news, it an advertisement. big...
