Actually, the primary reason why gas prices are higher in Europe is due to taxes. European countries place high taxes on oil/petrol, to encourage conservation and public transportation.

Not all of California are expensive - it just depends where in the state. I live in small town in California and it's much cheaper than Los Angeles / San Francisco / San Diego! Houses in my hometown can be bought for around 100K to 150K. Rent are cheap here too - most apt are around $350 - $450.

Here's my '68 Mustang Coupe which I restored myself. It has 302 V-8 with Edelbrock Performer intake and carburetor. Hooker Competition headers with dual exhaust, 4 speed Toploader, 9 inch rear axle (2.75 ratio, but plan to upgrade to 3.50), 4 wheel disc brakes.
