    Lillys Bilateral activation

THis is awesome! I am really happy to hear this.. I am too, starting to think about getting a Bi-lateral CI done. I have my right ear done, and now really contemplating on getting my left side done. It has done wonders for me - and I am really happy that it is really working out very well for...

" Wants to know if Ci BTE will help with tinnitus"

I had that issue on my right ear.. after I had my CI done - I have noticed it has gone down drastically for me. So, it has been a blessing for me. But then again the results varies amongst different people!

    Why??

Gallaudet is kinda funny - If you didn't come from a deaf family, or you didn't come from a deaf school you were pretty much considered an outsider. There was a group of people at Gallaudet during my time there who thought of themselves as the elite ones. But I would be laughing all the...

Do you feel or think that CI ruin.......?

I definitely voted No... CI will not kill the deaf culture/community. I still hang around my deaf friends - it is more of the attitude that kills the culture not the technology.

ABC Cards are part of deaf culture!

Actually I'm a bit more vicious.. A friend of mine and I were at Taco Bell eating lunch. Then this guy comes around to everyone's table and drops the ABC cards on everyone's table. I glanced at it and saw that it was an ABC card and he was asking for 2 dollars in contribution. I looked at my...

ABC Cards are part of deaf culture!

Give me a break... You don't see Hispanics going around selling Spanish words to learn around here. Come on give me a break.. Be like every American they can all go get a job! No it is NOT a win-win - it shows that we are TOO lazy to go out and get a job like every other American. And if...

    Sports...

You wouldn't qualify for the CI if you have that much hearing.. CI is only option for those who have lost almost all their hearing. I was like you when I was in High School - I had about 50-60 db loss.. So - you're in the same boat you will do fine.

    Sports...

I dont think he/she qualifies because if he/she can hear a bit right now they aren't going to implant. So this is null and void. :) But hearing aids are getting better from my understanding..

    Sports...

Actually in High School - I wore HA and I played soccer, football, baseball, and I was a cheerleader as well. I did alot of tumbling, stunts, flips and more. My cheerleading squad finished 1st in state and 2nd in the nation. So I wouldn't worry too much about it. Seriously you should be good...

    Deaf Professionals

Ahhh Patrick Graybill - yes he is a very good family friend of ours. He and my dad were the first two deaf deacons in the U.S back in the 80's. DeafDyke - Yes but the real point I am trying to make is successful deaf individuals who work in hearing environment who can't speak. :) But...

Actually she speaks quite well.. ANd if you look at the article it states that people didn't even know she was deaf when they spoke to her - so that proves that she had that. And she didn't associate herself much with the deaf community down here in Houston - but of course she would use sign...

Yes.. I know of her - and her family.. I have met and spoken with her mom and I have spoken with peers who know her. Actually her mom lives close by me. But keep in mind she is not the STRONG deaf. She didn't grow up in a deaf culture or whatsoever. What I am interested in is articles in...

    Parent and HA/CI issues

Honestly age 0-3 is where they really absorb most of the info that is when their brain does most of the explosion. And LANGUAGE is very crucial at that time, the later you wait the harder it is. Think about it - who do you think will be able to grasp the English language better? The 2 year...

    Parent and HA/CI issues

have you EVEN been READING the forums carefully. You know none of these parents that are on this forums are FORCING their child. They are giving their child an opportunity! Secondly as matter of fact some of them DO sign with their children. Because it is because of attitude like "THIS" is...

    Parent and HA/CI issues

If we are going to talk about scars... You know you can't even see scars nowadays with the new CI's you cant even see mine at all. My wife was pretty impressed. So what scar are you talking about? The only scar you will see is the one once they have the surgery after the hair grows back...

    Parent and HA/CI issues

How is it forced?? I mean seriously - first of all most children I have come across who are from hearing parents - the children don't sign ASL because the parents don't sign ASL. Remember no one learns ASL overnight - and no true hearing person can really grasp the language 100 percent - some...

    Concerns for daughter and dating

Ahh I wouldn't worry too much about it.. I'm deaf - married to a hearing lady (almost 9 years) have 2 hearing children - but everyone in my family signs. So we all have to experience life one way or another. Whether it is by dating hearing deaf ladies or hearing ladies. I have dated both...
