CI progress and starting school for parents of DHH kids

Kayla has a profound hearing loss and she wore HA for about 8 months and had very little benefit from them. When she's older and decides she dosent want to wear her implant, then that would be her decision and i would support her with whatever she chooses to do. So far she's very happy with her...

CI progress and starting school for parents of DHH kids

DD, i know you mean well and i thank you for your advice. As for Kayla's delay, it's definately not expressive and her speech sounds quite natural. People actually don't realize she is deaf until i mention it to them. Her language is probably what could use some help. But Kayla loves learning...

CI progress and starting school for parents of DHH kids

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Kayla is the only one in her school who is dhh. The school does have a speech pathologist, but your right DD, she does not have any training in working with dhh kids. So in that case, they are bringing in someone that does. The school has to accomidate to...

    schools vs hoh student

Don't think of yourself as being a nuisance!! This is your education and the school has to provide you with the accomidations you need. Unfortunately, sometimes you just have to keep ragging on them but hey it's not your fault they are taking their time.

    sound and beyond

I take my daughter to av therapy every week and i can't see how a program could possibly help as much as 1 on 1 contact with a therapist. I think it would be quite challenging actually because you could misinterpret what the program is saying. I would think it would be ok to get the program...

    Back to School

I used to get a lot of anxiety myself, it made me crazy. Going back to school can definately cause anxiety if your prone to it. What really helped me out was reading a great book on anxiety by Lucinda Basset called "From Panick to power". A lot of great advice and ways to control your anxiety...

I tried the time out method...never worked for my daughter. I tried the take away privliges...that never worked either. I think i tried everything under the sun. The only way i was ever able to get through to her was by giving her a spanking. Sometimes thats the only thing that works with...

Hi, my 5 year old uses a fm system and the only thing that's a problem with it is that it weighs down her earpiece. It's a very small attachment but it still weighs it down a bit. Other then that it helps her so much in school and noisey situations. When she has it on, i could be in another room...
