Laptop Stolen from NTID with Personal Information of Thousands of Us

Laptop stolen from NTID (is YOUR info on it?) This is great. Just great. I just received a letter from Alan Hurwitz (President of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf) informing me that a laptop that was stolen from NTID on August 25, 2008 had my personal information on it...

Its that time - CI batteries

If I had coverage for batteries I might be inclined to give the recharegeables a try, but since its out of my own pocket, and the disposables last longer that's what's best for me at the moment. True you brought up a good point about batteries going dead at inopportune moments.

Its that time - CI batteries

But again it depends on the CI and the map you have. My Audie told me I'd get approx 12 hours from a rechargeable, and that just doesn't cut it for me, yet.

Its that time - CI batteries

Once the rechargeable batteries approach the same life as disposables I'll consider getting them. Hopefully that won't be too far into the future.

Its that time - CI batteries

Well I'm happy to say I was able to get a couple packs of the Zenipower batteries to try and I am VERY pleased with the results. They are almost identical in life to the Power One Implant Plus for the map I have, so I will go with these, as they are a good $60 cheaper for 300 batteries. Thanks...

Only reply to this if there was someone...

Sorry, can't help you there. There are a couple of people at my audie's office who wear hearing aids but I never notice brands.

Its that time - CI batteries

Vampyrox - these are the kind of batteries that I use: I use three of them at a time in a battery holder like this:

Its that time - CI batteries

Vampyrox - the batteries for a CI are a special high-power 675 button battery (or rechargeable battery pack) and therefore are much more expensive. You can't use just regular batteries (like AA or AAA) that you use in clocks or flashlights. I go through three PowerOne Implant Plus batteries...

Its that time - CI batteries

Cloggy - I discussed rechargeable batteries with my audie, but with my current map I'd have to change them every 12 hours, and that's just too much a hassle when I get a little over 2 days from 3 disposable batteries.

Its that time - CI batteries

Thanks R2, I've ordered a couple packs of zenipower batteries from microbattery.com and will give them a test drive before making a big purchase.

Its that time - CI batteries

R2 that definitely can be a feature with the maps - remember we all can have different settings on it - mine is set for 1800 pulses per second, I remember testing 800, 1200, 1800, and I think it was 2400 during the clinical trials to see if a higher setting meant clearer hearing. It didn't.

Its that time - CI batteries

Its time to make my first purchase of batteries for my Freedom, having finally run out of my free supply. I currently use the PowerOne Implant Plus batteries, but there are SO many different batteries on the market for CI's, I'm wondering if anyone has had success with other batteries in their...

Ok, so I suppose it is unlikely...

Waterproof - at least for my CI. I could get rechargeables, but I'd have to change the battery every 12 hours and that would be an incredible hassle.

Difference between Cochlear contour and Freedom implants

I have a Cochlear Freedom and my surgeon definitely isn't crooked either. In fact everything I have was paid for by Cochlear as I was part of the clinical trials. I have no complaints.

Issue with Nucleus Freed BTE processors

I use my audio cable with my mp3 player daily and have for more than 2 years, so I doubt that's the issue. There are known problems with the Freedom. My biggest issue has been the digital display quitting, and the latex covering the transmitter coil splitting.

    CI Moments

That's so cool Vivie! I remember just after being activated, hearing something 'creaking' or 'popping' in my room and for the life of me I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, then realized it was the floor boards above me creaking when people walked around the 2nd floor!

    Shower and CI

Being as I sweat a LOT, especially in the summer, I've not had any problems with my coil being on my hair when it was wet/damp.
