Can *all* deaf people read and write?

Chase, your response was fantastic. Thank you for pointing things out and thank you for rewriting my question in a more appropriate manner. The answers which BelleSorrisa and Interpretrator gave me were what was on my mind and I only asked this question (and, believe me, I have lots more)...

Using the words Hearie & Deafie

I see the words Hearie & Deafie used a lot and I wanted to know whether I, as a hearing person, am allowed to use them when talking with you guys. You guys are all so friendly and I just want to know whether I'd be stepping out of my boots or not. Thanks

    Here I am again

Thinking more about it whilst I was out in the car, being isolated by hearing people probably helps Deaf people value friends even more.

    Here I am again

The best friends I've made in the past are the ones with whom I've gone through tough times. We might get seperated for a long time, but when we see each other, the warmth between us can't compare to what I feel with other friends. From what I've read, life is quite tough for Deaf people and...

Can *all* deaf people read and write?

Excellent guys. Thanks for clearing things up. I really am here to learn, so if I say anything wrong again, please don't be offended and just let me know that what i've asked or said is offensive. With the exception of you guys, I don't know anyone who is Deaf and I really don't know anything...

Can *all* deaf people read and write?

Thanks for your understanding guys. From all of this, I'm basically understanding that there's no difference between Deaf people and Hearing people when it comes to reading and writing.

Can *all* deaf people read and write?

I'm really sorry to have offended you. I'm completely Deaf *un*aware and I'm hear to learn. I'm registered on a course (which should arrive here in about 10 days) and I'm a bit impatient. Please don't be offended by anything I ask or say. I'm here to learn, so just let me know the question or...

Can *all* deaf people read and write?

You guys!!! I know you all can read & write, but is it the same for *all* deaf people (not AllDeaf people!).

Can *all* deaf people read and write?

I guess I wanted to know if being Deaf got in the way of reading & writing? And, would it be wrong for a hearing person to write something down for a Deaf person on the assumption that the Deaf person knew how to read?
