I'd like to point out that not everyone are deaf. Some are hearing impaired -- from a little bit of hearing loss to severe. I do use closed caption all the time when watching TV or movie due to my hearing impairment.

Hmm... It's been about 2 to 2.5 years since I last saw this thread. I do have a TTY, but can't remember if I voted "Yes" in the poll. It's not been used for about a couple of years and I do have a Vonage phone service (Vonage 500 Basic saves my money on my cell phone bill).

I understand, but sometimes we just have to work around the problem, like telling the relay operator to not explain relay, giving information ahead of time, etc. I know we live in the hearing world and I'm hearing impaired. Plus, I'm not frustrated at all.

I really don't keep my AIM up 24 hours a day, despite that I have My IP Relay phone number. :(

Other businesses may not take relay calls either and still can get angry. It may or may not matter which business you take elsewhere. Businesses can follow suit with other businesses. Sorry, but that's the way it is. To speed up the call, just give the relay information before they dial...

Don't forget about Canada. Some relay services mey not make Canadian calls.
