    Earmold questions

I don't have vents either. Not having vents reduces the possibility of feedback when you have severe/profound hearing loss.

    Ear Molds

You are quite right. I've never had vents in my earmoulds. I would imagine if I did they would whistle constantly, I only have to touch them to adjust their comfort and they immediately whistle.

    Versata Art

I changed to digitals three years ago and they took a little while to get used to after analog. At first they sounded much quieter, but the audi assured me that I would find an improvement in clarity, with use. There is also a difference between my ears. The sound from my right HA has...

    Hearing Aid Body Jewerly?

I agree, I won't be getting one of these any time soon! Especially as I'd need one for each ear, it'd look awful! Young people might like one now, but are they still going to want a huge hole in their ear lobe at age 50! Also, as previously posted, they wouldn't be suitable for anything...

Am I the only one bothered by this?

I suppose HAs may feel uncomfortable if you are not used to wearing them. I've been wearing HAs most of my life and can't really feel them now, even though they are quite large compared to some. I did get an odd comment from an elderly friend the other day, who has recently started wearing...

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Glasses are also much more common than HAs. Lots of hearing people do not know anyone who is Deaf/deaf and therefore do not have much understanding of the communication problems that hearing loss can cause. Stigma is usually the result of ignorance!

    Squealing HAs

My left HA also whistles whenever anything gets near it. I get new earmoulds every year which fit fine, it's just something that can't be avoided if you need powerful amplification. The only solution is not to let anything get to close to the microphone, whenever someone hugs me I'm always...

Am I the only one bothered by this?

I don't have a single photograph of myself as a child with visible HAs. When I used to have my hair cut my mum would ask the hairdresser to cut my hair so that it covered and hid my HA. Now that I'm older I don't mind who sees them and I like my hair cut really short.

Am I the only one bothered by this?

It really bothers me when people go on about the stigma attached to wearing HAs and the assumption that only old people need them. Why should there be any stigma attached to wearing HAs? There's no stigma attached to wearing glasses!

    Aid/FM programming?

Alicia could well be right, this has happened to me too. Sometimes I've had to take the audio shoe (boot) on and off several times before it connects with the HA.

Bristol least accessible city for deaf people – study

An induction loop is a loop of wire around a room which is connected to an audio source e.g. TV, microphone etc. If you are within the loop the sound can be picked up by using the T coils on your hearing aids, it helps to eliminate background noise therefore making it easier for you to hear.

No offence taken! I also manage to shop without the need to converse with the shop keepers. If people really have problems they could always order stuff online.

    Another body mod- Tragus piercing?

I saw a photo once of someone who had the front top of their ear pierced and were wearing an earring which enclosed the tubing on their hearing aid!
