    Siemens launches waterproof hearing aid

Can bet they won't be available on the NHS! Looks like it wouldn't be powerful enough for me any way, darn!!!

    Walking With Hearing Aids

I've got two dogs and it's never even occured to me that my HAs could be made wet by a lawn sprinkler. If the weather looks like it might be wet I just wear a coat or jacket with a hood on, I wouldn't leave my HAs out in case I don't hear the traffic and either me or the dogs get run over!

    Oticon chili hearing aids

I'll have had mine 40 years this summer, I remember it was summer because it was school holidays!

    Getting a hearing aid re-cased

Part of the problem is not only do they hardly cover my HAs but they are so tight that they exert pressure on the programme button, with the result that I end up hearing through the normal microphone in one ear and the directional microphone or telecoil with the other. Usually the covers...

    Getting a hearing aid re-cased

I won some standard size cheetah pattern ones in a competition. I'm trying to stretch them so that they fit my HAs. I love the pattern but they are a bit on the tight side.

    Telecoil

It's the bus electrical system causing interference, happens on any bus I've ever been on, it also happens in my car, trains tend to be better!

    Size matters ;)

Rose, what do you mean by 'a full size HA' etc. Having looked at the links to the photos you posted on another thread, your HAs look really tiny compared with mine and I also use audioshoes etc. If I remember rightly yours are open-fit Reflex Ms aren't they?

    Size matters ;)

I don't really care about the size of my HAs as long as I can hear with them! My Siemens Reflex DSPs (NHS) use 675 batteries, I've not had any experience using smaller size batteries in all the 40 years I've worn HAs, but it must be a right pain if you have to keep changing them all the time...

New to hearing aids - frustrated and looking for advice.

adamjt, It does take a long while to get used to hearing aids. I've used them for nearly 40 years and even now if I get new ones it will take quite a while to get used to a different quality of sound. My advice is to hang on in there and give them a fair trial, you'll get used to them...

Questions for those who wear hearing aids?

    1. Almost 40 years 2. My parents noticed when I was very young 3. All day, every day 4. Definitely benefit, in fact I depend on them and am lost without them 5. I wish NHS in Britain would offer coloured ones to adults, they could be waterproof, feedback is often a problem, sometimes my ear...

    Bi-CROS Hearing Aids?

Sorry, just realised you were talking about wearing Bi-Cros aids since 1980!

    Bi-CROS Hearing Aids?

How can someone whose been wearing HAs since 1980 have been wearing them for 42 years, it's not 2022 yet. I've been wearing mine since 1971 and by my reckoning that's 40 years this year, 2011!

Your matching coloured fm boots look really good too. So much better than my audio shoes with fm receivers attached, which make my boring beige, already large, HAs look enormous!

    hearing aid picture

It seems to depend on where you live, in some areas the NHS will get adults coloured HAs, but not in my area. They issue everyone with beige and claim it is easier to just replace them when they go wrong rather than having to repair them! They also order HAs in bulk and seem to think that most...

I love the colour Jenny, I wish we could get coloured HAs in the UK instead of boring beige. Here they only issue coloured ones to kids!

    Getting Older Another Scare

Interesting article, but I hope it doesn't give cause for hearing people to assume that because we are Deaf/HoH we also have dementia! There's already plenty of stupid people out there who ignorantly associate deafness with a lack of intelligence.

    Hearing Aid Dryer

I have a Dry and Store too and would recommend it. Best to use the desiccant with it though, as they absorb the moisture, you can get reusable ones that you dry out in an oven, these save you having to constantly buy new disposable ones.

    Oticon Safari SP/Oticon Chili

That's really good news Jenny, after all the problems you've had with your naidas. I'd love to try HAs that can be used with a streamer, they sound so useful.

argument with my ignorant nursing instructor!

The tutors on my nursing course, in the UK, were obviously better informed than yours. They were quite aware of Deaf culture and my research dissertation subject was about enabling better services, e.g. interpreters, healthcare staff who can sign etc., for Deaf patients. The only problem I had...
