    baby got hearing aids!

The other mums may be just interested because they've never seen a baby with hearing aids before. Once you get the chance to explain what they are for, and that giving your son access to sound will help him learn to speak and keep him safe when he learns to crawl and walk, I'm sure it will be OK.

    Phonak Ambra CIC hearing aids

Must be the postcode lottery. Here in Birmingham there seems to be no coloured HAs or spares available on the NHS.

    Phonak Ambra CIC hearing aids

I live in Birmingham and asked about keeping my old NHS analogue HAs as spares when first fitted with digitals. They point blank said NO, even though the analogues probably went straight in the bin as soon as I left the place, after all who would they be giving old analogue HAs to when they were...

What do people have as accessories/equipment for their HAs?

I used to use Bluetack to stick Musiclinks to my HAs, but have given up on that now, DAI is loads better.

Disappointment in the ComPilot now :(

Good luck with your ComPilot. Hearing a phone on a bus is very challenging, even my husband who is hearing has problems with this. Hopefully your Audi will make adjustments which will help.

Need guidance in selecting the Hearing Aids

Isn't Costco an American store? I don't think they have any branches in India! Anyway it's best to go to a properly qualified audiologist whatever your hearing loss, just in case there is any underlying problem causing it, e.g. Otosclerosis, Menieres, etc.

    Getting new hearing aids?

As you are at university have you tried applying for Disabled Students Allowance. The assessment was quite straightforward when I applied a few years ago and I was provided with some really useful equipment. If you haven't already applied it might be worth a try.

    Getting new hearing aids?

I think you'll find this is the case in virtually all NHS audiology departments. I've had aids for over forty years and have attended various places over the years and found it's the same everywhere. Many years ago, when only analogue aids were available, I had to keep the same HA for...

    Getting new hearing aids?

Agreed! I've only seen them on a few people in forty years of wearing aids and they were all bought privately.

    Getting new hearing aids?

If the audiology department you attended is anything like the one I go to they don't offer alternative HAs at all, just the ones they have available on contract, i.e. they only order Siemens so that's what everyone gets, the model depends on your hearing loss. Only under exceptional...

    Getting new hearing aids?

I've never known anyone who has been given ITEs on the NHS either. I know a few people who have small BTEs with thin tubing, but they only have a mild hearing loss. My guess is that you'd be better off with standard BTEs, with ear moulds, for your loss. As you are at university they have the...

Apple, Inc. & Hearing Aid Manufacturers

Bet we wouldn't get them from the NHS!

    New Hearing Aids?

Siemens are good, I have them. Mine are Siemens Reflex DSPs, but outside of Britain and the NHS, I think they are called Nitro, they work for moderate to profound loss.

Sore ears and fear of audiology department

I think it's because they have to order them in specially, whereas they seem to have drawers full of beige HAs. In the case of moulds I suppose it's easier to just order them all in clear. Whenever I've taken one of my HAs back because it's faulty they just produce another one from somewhere...

Sore ears and fear of audiology department

Unfortunately here in the UK we're lucky to get anything other than beige HAs and clear moulds, especially with all the cutbacks taking place in the NHS at the moment.

please help i think crazy glue messed up my hearing aid.

I find that after about a year the tubing keeps coming out of my ear moulds. I've been tempted to use glue to stick them in again, but never have. It's usually a sign that the moulds need replacing, soft moulds tend to shrink after a time and the hole which the tubing goes down just becomes...

hearing aids work for profound loss?

Please don't go to Costco, find a professionally trained audiologist who can provide your father with a HA that is properly programmed for his needs.

    T Coil on Naidas

I'm pretty sure that T-coil volume can be adjusted independently of general microphone volume on digital HAs. Just ask your Audi.
