    nursing starts in 3 weeks!

Alicia, when you get your stethoscope could you please let me know how you find it and what make/model it is? I'd like to get one that actually works for me. Your audi is quite right, an amplified stethoscope is useless for anything other than a mild hearing loss.

    nursing starts in 3 weeks!

Alicia, good luck with your nurse training, I'm sure you will enjoy it. I graduated last Friday after finishing my training as a mental health nurse. Do you know which stethoscope you will be using? The one I was provided with by my Disabled Students Allowance was quite inadequate for my...

    Another body mod- Tragus piercing?

Depending on your ear mould I should imagine it would be very difficult to get it in with a tragus piercing, even with a labret. Also an ear mould which does not fit properly because something is in the way is almost certain to cause feedback. If you go ahead and get it done you may be creating...

    Aid/FM programming?

Assuming that Tyler uses receivers which attach to his hearing aids, the audi will have to programme the aids to accept direct audio input. Unless this is done it will not work with the smartlink. Sounds to me as though this has not been done on the aid with which you are having problems...

    Problem with HA's

I have soft moulds and a year or two is about right for the length of time they last. When I was a kid and had hard moulds they lasted a lot longer. Also, tubing is easy to replace yourself, no need to go to an audi. Just pull the old one out, putting the ear mould in hot water helps to...

One weekend... I found out I was completely deaf

If she was 'completely deaf' she would not benefit from HAs!

    Problem with HA's

I recently visited audiology because my left ear mould had split and needed replacing. When I asked if they could do me a new one for my right ear too, as it is a year old and quite discoloured, she said no and looked at me like I was trying to rob the NHS! Government cut backs or just a mean...

Profoundly deaf - anyone like me, have CI?

I agree completely with you, I had the same experience with NHS audis during my childhood. At secondary school I had a teacher of the deaf/audi who was lovely and went out of her way to help, but once I left school I felt completely abandoned. Once transferred to adult services you only get...

    Phonak Naida

I have a Smartlink which works well as an fm system and also has bluetooth capability for use with a mobile phone, it also connects through a cable to my computer, IPod etc. Recently I bought a Nokia LPS 5 bluetooth neckloop, for use with my mobile phone, which utilises the T-coils in my HAs...

Dear Phonak: Things I Would Like To See...

I have had the same problem, turned out it was the audio shoe that was at fault. Might be worth you trying them the other way round to see if this is the problem with yours.

    Phonak FM System

I have a gadget that connects my smartlink to a corded phone. As I live in the UK it came from a British company called Connevans, I don't know whether they are available in the states, but here's the link so you can have a look: fmg pack 4b: Telephone use - with a handset at home or...

Like the previous two students I need to interview three people with hearing aids.

Just look at the other two posts, you'll get the same responses. I just copied and pasted my answers for one on to the other! Can do the same for you if you like!!! Although, as others have said, asking questions on an internet forum isn't really an interview is it?
