    Head colds/Sinusitis with CI

I have always had Sinusitis, but I have to agree the pain seems more since I my CIs. It will affect your hearing. I don't think it is the CI that is causing more head colds, but the weather and temperature changes. In my area, there is an increase in illness due to weather changes. My CI dr...

    MAPs

The only thing I can find is my Input Dynamic Range (IDR) is at 60. I know my mapping is powerful due to my hearing loss. I tend to need new mapping every 3 months. I hope to go 6 months after this next time.

    MAPs

I really don't know. I am looking for my last mapping paper and will review it.

    CI Selection

The battery can drain quickly in high power programs. My 12 hour don't last 12 hours, but that is okay. My battery is on energy saver and last around 9 hours. I just put in the 24 hour and recharge when I get home. I didn't think I would like the T-Mic either. After always hearing from...

    An internal question

I can touch the implant, but feel it no. My daughter likes to touch it. She likes to give implant rubs, to "make my hearing better."

    CI Selection

I made my choice for Adanced Bionics after months of researching each company. I agree with Hugoboss84 that not one CI company is superior to the other. I picked AB for a few reasons: 1. The Hi-Res implant - I felt it would enable a better chance of hearing music. 2. The design - I did not...

Did God curse or Bless Rush Limbaugh?

I agree with you. As for Rush, some people either deaf or hearing are just plain stupid!

    flipside Q about the CI!

Not sure if I can think of a lot of cons. 1. I don't get to spend my money on hearing aid batteries, since AB has recharagable batteries. I haven't bought a battery in 1 1/2 years. Also insurance pays 90% of the cost of replacement batteries. 2. Since my hair is longer, I don't get stared at...

    CI Moments

Etalton that is so exciting. It feels so good not to have to focus on "if someone calls you" or "what if." It only gets better. Enjoy your cat! My dog snores, not the best noise since it is so loud.

    Odd Unexplainable Buzzing in CIs

I have AB and experienced that too. It was my ear hook(T-Mic). After changing it, that buzzing stopped.

What do you consider "little benefit from HA?"

I spent 7 years without any hearing aids and a profound severe loss. Some sounds I hear for the first time ever with cochlear implants.

    New mapping

It is the best feeling to not have to be on alert all the time for sounds. Music - pick something you remember hearing before you hearing got worst. look up the lyrics and read it as you listen to it. repeat over and over until the music and lyrics make sense. It takes about 10 times...

One Implant Made an Impact. Might Two Do Even More?

You can't do that with AB. If you place the wrong ear on, then it just doesn't work. I have a little mark on my right one to tell them apart.

One Implant Made an Impact. Might Two Do Even More?

I have two implants. I agree two are better than one. I have different mapping on each one, but they work together in sound discrimation. The first time my ears have ever worked together. I also find I don't like to wear just one.

Warning very headache is really bad health

Travis, I am so sorry about your migraines. I hope your doctor has given you "quick" meds when you get a migraine. Also there are some very good daily meds to keep from getting a migraine. Be careful not to take too much over the counter medicine because of rebound headaches.

Warning very headache is really bad health

I had migraines with my hearing aids and stopped getting them with my cochlear implants. I haven't had a migraine since surgery July 2007.

What do you consider "little benefit from HA?"

very true. The HNT sentence you can use context clues to figure out the meaning.

What do you consider "little benefit from HA?"

I'm coming into the thread late, but let me put in my comments. I wore hearing aids for 27 years, since I was 10. I was able to understand speech for the most part. The last 6 years my discrimation went down. My right ear had almost no discrimation, but my left ear had enough to "function" at...

    Residual Hearing after CI

Everything sounds so natural now. I can't tell the differences when I wear my CIs. I do take a break from wearing, like today and it is more difficult to understand her.
