deaf 2 years old kids wear CI

It seems like you just answered your original question? It could be that the deaf program accept oral kids because they are not getting deaf kids for ASL into their program. I believe this happens. If they get no deaf kids that use ASL mostly, they might seem to feel they have no choice...

deaf 2 years old kids wear CI

Did I say anything to state such? No, but here's what I see. I can understand valle's point, and I can see that she came a bit too strong on another side. I also can see where the OP came on too strong as well. I can also see where she's coming from. Quiet obviously, I don't see what I...

deaf 2 years old kids wear CI

I think she's just picking on you like she did me in the other forum about using the term hearing impaired. Oh, well, isn't that funny how some individuals talk to you like you're not deaf enough or deaf at all to know anything about deafness?

deaf 2 years old kids wear CI

It sounds like your child may not be in the right school. Are there other deaf programs you could place your child in that use sign language?

    Some people...

Yep, and I notice that there are people that speak to someone next to them without realizing that I can read their lips. They talk as if you cannot "hear" them. Example, she said, "she can speak!" and you could read her lips. I remember two students in high school and junior high school who...

What hearing aids do you wear

I read that the Phonak Naida is supposed to take the high frequencies not heard and take it over to the frequencies you hear (low frequencies) in order to hear them. I realize some of you like JennyB has used them, has it helped you hear the high frequencies a bit?

    Advice needed...

Yes, there are sometimes counselors who know sign language, but I think you'll be better prepared to understand deaf and hard of hearing clients better than a hearing person who knows sign language. You can also work at a deaf school like Hear Again said. You can tell VR about it when you get...

Congratulations! I am glad your incision was much smaller, and they didn't shave your hair. Well, take lots of rest and don't eat too much turkey! LOL

    Surgeon's report

faire_jour, it's really that common to lose residual hearing. Some people do tend of have a little attachment to losing their natural little hearing they have left, but they know that they realize that their speech comprehension with HAs is not good. Don't feel bad, it seems like Miss Kat...

    Bilateral

Yeah, I don't mean to scare or be a negative, but I thought Vivie wanted to know of others with different brands. The one link I posted is the one I know is on a website that is about two different brands. It's a decision that only one personally can make. There are other people that have...

    Bilateral

I have read about bilateral users with different brands on each side. They were part of research studies. Results vary. Some hear better in one ear than the other. It doesn't mean that one implant is better, it might mean that they simply hear better on one side. I know a lady who got the N22...

A hearing teacher doesn't believe in deaf can do anything! D:<

LOL. There was a frequent Sub Teacher in high school whom the students didn't like much because she was always punishing kids. Well, one time in Algebra she was punishing kids audible to the whole class. She saw the terp signing, and she told the terp not to sign to me what she was saying...

I thought the same thing. It's might be worth talking to a lawyer.

    UbiDuo

I can understand why Ubiduo can be a fantastic idea for communication, but I can also see why this doesn't benefit deaf individuals who don't have good English grammar because they use ASL. I wouldn't rule this device as a good idea for those that can use it and benefit from it. After all, not...

    Surgeon's report

I don't think so. I think she made that decision knowing she'd get only one implant. It was during that time when bilateral was still in its studies. I know it has to be a brave decision (the girl I spoke to said too) because I believe the CI needs the nerve for the CI to work.
