    Google Translate on Mobile

I found the Google Translate app (On iphone and Andriod) to be a helpful tool at times. What you do is you set both languages to English. That way when someone speaks into it it'll turn it into Bold Text when the phone is turned sideways. For example your friend says something to you and you...

    Annoying ignorant hearing people stories

I was out with some friends and this guy started talking to me. I couldn't understand him so I said, "Sorry, I'm deaf. What was that again?" This idiot started moving his hands as if he was speaking is ASL. But he didn't know ASL. He was just miming like he was signing and I could tell he...

Using my experience with deafness to help others.

Hi everyone. It's been a while since I've posted on here. No reason other then just life happening. But I've been working on something and I thought I'd share it with you all to see what you think. I'm about to give my first seminar on this in a couple of weeks. Just a small one for employees...

    Netflix now CC in mobile

Yes. CineXPlayer is great but I actually found one I like better. AVPlayer. Can do all CineXPlayer can do and then some. Even more options to adjust the subtitles and video. Anyway, that's a different topic. Was just glad to see Netflix finally CC enabled their app.

    Netflix now CC in mobile

Wirelessly posted I was surprised to find out that Netflix instantly watch now shows subtitles on my iPhone app now. I didn't see any mention of them adding that. Last app update didn't even mention that they added subtitle to mobile view of Netflix. But its now there. If you have the app...

Where to find movies subtitles online?

In most cases you'd be right. But in this case the google search still brings no good results for English subs for this movie. Some are marked as Eng but if you open them they aren't.

Where to find movies subtitles online?

Go to subscene.com and put a request in for the English version of the subtitles for this. They are there for other languages but I couldn't find any English. If the movie isn't very popular it's sometimes hard to find them. Most subtitles you find on line are made by "people", as in used like...

A little tip for hearing better with a CI

I found something that's been very helpful for me. So I thought I'd pass it along. First let me tell you the kinds of situations I'm finding this helpful. I watch a lot of TV shows and movies on my computer. I have a Personal Audio Cable for my N5 but you're not suppose to plug this into...

    Caption Bleep

I think it more has to do with the timing of the bleep. I don't think they intentionally let you hear a part of the word. For example the word F*** and the word F***ing. One word is longer and the bleep might not be as long as the word takes to be spoken. So sometimes a letter sound or two might...

Who has had experience donateing hearing aids?

I don't have much to add except that I use to live right next door to a VFW and I'd go in there sometimes to play pool. They had a box in there for donating used hearing aids and I was surprised at how many where in the box there. I didn't go through them or anything but just at the glance I'd...

Dislike my cochlear device after 3 years using it...??

When it comes to things like this I really think it's sometimes easy to make things more complicated then they are. If a device such as a hearing aid, CI, BAHA, etc.. helps a person be able to hear. And they want to be able to hear. Then use it. It's as simple as that. Don't worry about...

    Netflix Subtitles finally searchable!

Yes, ncmacasl's blog is awesome. Maybe soon he won't have to put so much work into it. I know I'm not the only one who wouldn't have paid for netflix if it wasn't for his blog. Netflix owes him. Ron Jaxon

    CI without Processor

Well, I'm thinking that it's some kind of Signal that sends it from the Processor to the internal part. I'm sure there's something else out there that uses the same kind of signal. That's kind of what I'm curious about. What kind of signal does the processor send to the internal part? One...

    CI without Processor

This is is just something I'm curious about. Just so you know I do have a CI (N5). I'm wondering if it's possible for the Implant (Internal part) to pick up any kind of signal that would cause the us to hear something without the sound processor. Even if it's just a buzz sound or something like...

My video question from magician to magician (About hearing again with CI) - Subtitled

Thanks guys. First I'll address my speech. Thank you for the compliment. Keep in mind that my hearing didn't decrease to deafness till my late teens and early twenties. So I was a pretty good speaker at one time. Over the 20 years I was deaf I obviously developed some slurred speech. But...

My video question from magician to magician (About hearing again with CI) - Subtitled

I figured I'd share this with you all. Maybe some of you will find it interesting. First let me explain what this is. As some of you know. I'm a magician. I started in magic at about the same time of my life that my hearing decreased to deafness. Last year I got my CI activate. This is a video...

    Watch TED.com with subtitles

I did a search and didn't find any mention of this yet. I just found out about it myself so I thought I'd share. Many of TED.com videos now have subtitles. I haven't found one yet that doesn't but they don't claim that they all are. It's not all that obvious to find. There's no "CC" or...

    Voice to Text

Yes, Dragon's Speech to text "Naturally Speaking" is very good. I have two apps on my iPhone that use it "Dictation and Dragon Search". Google buys so many companies. But I like how google for the most part simplifies things. Their sites, apps and other features aren't all cluttered and focus on...
