Low-cost paging service with Operator-Dispatch text paging

MD Froman, I placed an order for a pager and service at 2wayshop.com over 2 weeks ago but my pager has not been shipped yet and I was able to get ahold of customer service only twice in the past 2 weeks. Customer service kept telling me that there is a problem with the wholesale supplier...

    Ip-relay on Sidekick

Is this instant TTY like what you get on Java TTY? Also is Sidekick a pager that can receive pages? I would be using it exclusively for calling hearing people. Thanks.

Err.. .. it is not my problem. . it is Amby's problem since she posted this thread, not me.

    Please read this!

Here is a good work-around solution: Using Internet TTY relay service on a connected laptop computer, call into the classroom phone using the TTY service. Make sure the classroom phone headset is next to the TV. So it is like the TV is talking into the phone and you can read what is being...

Hey, thanks for pointing me out to that company. The service is exactly like what I'm looking for. I'll look into it.

    ATI 9000 pro all-in-wonder

I'll bet it is vaporware. Even if they actually make CC work, the implementation will probably suck. Go with the ATI MMC which has a very mature CC implementation. You won't be disappointed.

Text-to-Voice software - for CapTel users who cannot speak clearly

IBM should have open-sourced the software and take a business tax deduction accordingly.

Anybody pissed off at spam viruses?

Same here. Never received a virus in 2 years I have used my Apple Powerbook G4 (Titanium). All deaf people should move to Apple platform ;-).

CapTel in Canada (200 WPM Relay Service!!)

Not sure how it is in violation of the usage agreement? All I am doing is dialing a 1-800 number for my pre-paid calling card and from that number, I make international long distance calls. There is no charge to CapTel since it is an 1-800 number to which I'm dialing.

Text-to-Voice software - for CapTel users who cannot speak clearly

Dennis, Mark was talking about a text-to-voice machine from his end of the CapTel phone conversation. The user would type what needs to be said and the device would convert that into voice and speak into the CapTel phone. So to the hearing person at the other end, Mark would sound like The...

CapTel in Canada (200 WPM Relay Service!!)

That is true for direct connection. However you can still make international phone calls through a calling card that provides a 1-800 number from which you can dial to anywhere in the world. Through CapTel, I have used many calling cards to call my significant other in India when she was...

    ATI 9000 pro all-in-wonder

It doesn't matter if you want to just watch TV or capture TV on your computer or whatever. The ONLY game in town is the ATI card because the ATI MMC works only with ATI cards and the ATI MMC is the ONLY TV software that has CC support. I don't know of any other TV software that supports CC...

    ATI 9000 pro all-in-wonder

I have had the ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500DV for over a year now and it is perhaps the BEST computer investment I have made in a LONG time. The AIW works with ATI's MultiMedia Center (MMC) which has EXTENSIVE support for closed captioning. In fact, it appears to be the ONLY PVR (personal...

Low-cost paging service with Operator-Dispatch text paging

Thanks for the clarification. Now I understand what you said. My situation is somewhat different than yours. I need the pager mostly for work-related stuff and I use CapTel to call people on work-related business. This rules out TTY relay service since I do not wish to inconvenience...

Sorry, I am having a hard time understanding what you just said. Could you please clarify your posting with better grammar? No offense intended. Thanks.

Low-cost paging service with Operator-Dispatch text paging

But the question is: Will hearing users be able to get in touch with me? If so, how? If I do not want the hearing users to deal with relay services, will hearing users be able to send operator-dispatched text pages to me? Thanks!

Low-cost paging service with Operator-Dispatch text paging

I'm looking for a low cost paging service that offers unlimited or close-to-unlimited Operator-Dispatch text paging or Voice-to-Text. I used to have this with Sprint a very long time ago but it seems that Sprint is no longer offering this service. Does anyone know of any paging companies...

Text-to-Voice software - for CapTel users who cannot speak clearly

Wouldn't this method make it no different than using a TTY? By the way, are you the same Mark Rejhon from the AVS HTPC forum? Thanks.

Don't have CapTel? Here is how to get something similar

I agree with you that CapTel is far superior to the alternative method described above and I would definitely recommend CapTel to anyone who can get it. However, I don't think that everyone can get it and I also like to have insurance for the unlikely event that CapTel is not renewed or goes...

Question for 100% deaf adult users of cochlear implant

I don't know why this is a controversy but if I was 2 years old with a TOTAL hearing loss (totally 100%, not 70% or 60% or whatever), a CI would definitely have been a life-changing event. . . . after all, I had nothing left to lose (pun intended).
