Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

However, the liklihood of a person becoming injured or dead from a gun in a crime is driven by weapon availability, wether illicit or legal. The only way (in the scope of this topic) I can think of to propose to reduce unnecessary deaths is to reduce supply. I think some criminals would move on...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

Maybe if you can get a chance or opportunity, have a talk with some of your local authorities? See if they are willing to give you a general opinion over some of the materials in this debate. While I don't think they will give you statistical information, they might be more likely to share a...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

You are sort of getting to the point I'm trying to get across. If you became a criminal's target, you are probably more likely to be a victim facing the muzzle of a Hi-Point or Bersa gun than you would be with a H&K or F&N (hope that brings more sense in what I am saying). I kind of...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

And they are rarely used for crimes. They are made for a one time purpose deal which I don't think represents the average criminal. Maybe a syndicate hitman trying to get pass metal detectors or something, but I doubt we will see them being used very often in crime situations compared to...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

To me, it means more guns being used in crimes. Being cheap, means more guns being purchased, means more guns being stolen. A direct relationship between all variations. It's like this: Cheap guns = more purchases in cheap guns = more guns stolen/purchased/lost/strawman = more criminals with...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

Same with cheap guns. Cheaper guns can mean fewer options on the gun, or a less well-known name. All guns have to be federally approved on regulations. Even an expensive gun can be a hazard as much as a cheap one. The turning point is in the quantity of the cases involving cheap guns, not the...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

Are you being serious? This is the justification? Would you consider buying some ~$30 or homemade notoriously unreliable zipgun? If I was a criminal and super poor that I don't have more than a few bucks and needed to shoot only one person, sure. Even then, I need to know how to make one or find...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

True, I can see how you guys felt it would make no difference if you looked at things at it from a basic, very simple level. But you end up missing the big picture for the price of being simple. There are pretty big implications from having cheap guns. COLUMBIA, SC: Nearly 6,000 guns stolen or...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

In this case, might as well translate that to some people can only afford "cheap and more easily accessible vehicles" or "cheap and more accessible tires" so they have as much as a privelege as anyone else on the road to be driving, even if they could be a roadside hazard. As long as they have a...

Should low quality firearms be eliminated or raise the price?

Question for what gun owners think. Apparently it seems that certain guns are popular choices for criminals, whether stolen or bought. They might steal it from the poorer citizens who bought the gun to protect themselves, or have some strawman buy it for them in the store. Examples: Hi-Point...

A Gun Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

I got loaned this book in the office for use on some cases. It's really helpful, not only does it talk about the firearm type/ammunition, it also lists values. Way more organized than the internet and finding information on stuff. Pretty cool book.

9-1-1 is not required to answer calls

A lot of 911 calls do not have useful information. I read the case synopsis/call summary where I work, so this might not be be true for other cities but I think it can be a general consensus. A lot of it is redundant information or the parties barely give any details over half the time. When a...

Court of public opinion looms large in George Zimmerman murder trial

I read that BJS research before, while it is true that they found the number to be 93%... I don't think it's representative to say that is seen across the entire US because some states/cities would have more racial disparity in the figures due to the differences in their population demographics.

Do you like to post on AD on your smartphone?

Yep.. We are talking about a dedicated app so you don't have to open up your safari/browser. You will be able to reply from pressing a button and using the text box. Something that looks more like this:

Do you like to post on AD on your smartphone?

It would be helpful to see it from that perspective, but mods don't have any privilege to server/admin side sensitive information. The best we can do is observe a thread and its posts. I do agree that one of the drawbacks is not having a dedicated mobile app makes it all more likely for...

    Home Security Systems

Remember, the operating methodology here is 'cheaper alternatives'. These are just some quick ideas to get you thinking, "What can I do to improve my home security that doesn't involve thousands of dollars?" It is not necessary to disapprove or criticize the philosphy of them, since they are...

Ah gotcha. I hadn't paid attention to WDYs general perspective so you may have a point I hadn't considered.

Do you like to post on AD on your smartphone?

I hope we do have more than 25-30 active ADers.. 30 people would be not worth the time from a developer standpoint, many would prefer to have at least 50 to 100 minimum. Otherwise it just makes more sense to go with whatever is the cheapest or hassle free alternative.

Court of public opinion looms large in George Zimmerman murder trial

I think not necessarily un-American, just biased to the views of some other local government. she may just be unsupportive of Florida law. Had this happened in another state, the story might be different and she would have full support over the issue..
