As Jail Visits Go High-Tech, Isolation Grows

I guess the guards will not be able to blame contraband on visitation anymore. Hard to pass drugs through video monitor. I guess they will just have to wait until the prison gets a 3D printer.

If the hair cells are restored and you have that type of loss, yes, it would cure it. At this point, they are not saying everything will be restored. I'm sure that is a goal, but it has not been confirmed yet. We have to wait until after the trials. Fox, good point about SSDI. I wonder if that...

U.S. Navy Seal Sniper Chris Kyle killed by Marine

The motive was mental illness. The guy has a long documented history of it. It is another case where mentally ill people should not have access to firearms. The mother neglected to tell Mr. Kyle that the son had threatened violence in addition to other health related details.

This also brings up another issue which I had not given any thought. If we could cure some hearing, how many people would take that option. Obviously, there are some who would not. But, what is surprising is that perhaps assisted users, not just hard core Deaf, might also forgo treatment...

I don't pretend to know about CIs because I don't wear one and I have no interest in getting one. I do know that there is a limit to the depth of the electrode which limits access to certain frequencies. At what point are you stating a gain of 20db? At the electrode point? The hearing aids do...

Interesting. Do you think a profound person with a CI hears better than a moderately deaf person? I don't think you would get the same range, but I don't know.

    Who picks which coaches?

I can't say I know the full process for hiring in the NFL, but I imagine it is similar to a large company. While most people look at sports teams as a leisure activity, the business side of it is the same as other businesses. My guess is: The person has to go through a full process of interview...

    Hearing loss Drugs and Treament.

This drug is new. I've just learned about it this past weekend. From what I have read about this approach, only about 50% of hearing can be restored. Still, if that got me from profound to mild/moderate I'd be able to hear on the phone again. I agree about side effects. It would be better to...

I'm on the fence about wired alarms. If you lose power, you still need the alarm(if there isn't a reserve battery). I'd to 50/50 battery/wired. Also, I'm looking into wireless connection to other alarms.

Yes. He can. Ultimately, the police are going to be the only source with the answers. I'm sure they are handling it and will announce what they find. Newspapers and news outlets usually get the facts wrong.
