Most surgeons will make you trial the BAHA on a headband first. It will give you an idea of how it will benefit you. The real thing will work better though.

AB makes a swim cap to hold the magnet on, and an arm band that holds the processor. It ain't goin' anywhere.

If I mute my hearing aid to take a nap I end up sleeping for too long. So being able to wear my CI and nap on my side would be helpful to keep a nap short.

I think I'm decided on AB due to the Neptune. The ability to wear it off the ear when my ear gets sore or I want to take a nap on my side, and being able to hear while swimming, would be priceless! There are many CI surgeons that my insurance covers, so I can choose one who does AB.

I did want all of the information and each person's opinion. That's what I asked for so thank-you. Deafdyke- I was hearing until 8yrs old (I'm 24) so what they're saying regarding the AB is relevant.

I'm basically limited to Cochlear. They are the only company with a removable magnet for MRI's. Since I have MS, I have a LOT of MRI's. The ability to temporarily remove the magnet for the MRI is priceless.

I think what you mean is decorating them with stickers, nail polish, etc. I use nail stickers and they come off themselves all the time. If something happened to my hearing all I'd have I do is peel the stickers off and take it in. Just sayin' :P

I think your friend's boss needs to shove it...If your friend cares what he thinks, she can get Ear Gear for work to match her hair. She could also keep her current molds after she gets colors and use current ones at work. ETA: My hearing aids and molds are purple. No boring here :P

All of this! This is what I do. Even though in Deaf community I'm HOH, I call myself Deaf because essentially I am (and legally). I'm NR/92 so yeah I don't hear much :P

I had to decide this recently. Last year my hearing was NR/65, and progressed to NR/92 by this summer. I had to decide whether to get a Naida UP, go for a CI, or do nothing. I had appt's with a CI clinic, Audi, etc. In the end I decided that I wanted to get the Naida for now to help me in school...

I assume you're referring to SSI. Yes, SSD is a disability to them.
