    Hearing Aids and Headaches

I get headaches from my HA and I can barely hear from it. It's putting out above 130dB, so the sound pressure and vibrations are causing the headache, not what I hear. I also have tinnitus 24/7. Before my loss went downhill to complete deafness, the tinnitus went away when wearing my aid...

I can actually hear more with my Naida in my left ear than my right! Which is odd because my left ear is completely NR on all my audiograms, whereas my right can hear in the 100's in a couple frequencies. Having it tested on Friday and reprogramming the Naida for the left ear. Maybe they need to...

    Going bilateral...

I didn't think about the budget cuts affecting this! I'd get on this ASAP before they think to cut bilateral! If it comes down to it I know a lot of people who buy temporary insurance policies in order to get a CI. They negotiate it with the insurance company. More expensive of course but might...

    Phonak Naida Battery Draws

Mine look like the first picture and double click. The first click is definitely not closed, though. I thought it was so you could turn them off but keep the battery secure. That's how I open them at night to put in the dry store. The second click actually closes it and turns it on. I can take...

    CI Surgery Date :)

Yeah I handle anesthesia VERY well, so we were out of there pretty quickly. Plus we were 3hrs from home and they wanted us home before dark. I arrived at 8am. My surgery was scheduled for 9:45. Got delayed due to the Dr. overlooking an allergy and needing to change meds. Went into OR at 10:15...

    Going bilateral...

I believe Medicaid/Medicare do in fact cover bilateral implants :)

I would have to ask my Mom. But I went in at 10:15 and we were on the highway by 2:30.

Auto Immune Inner Ear Disease - CI

Paully, were CI surgery buddies! We had surgery on the same day :) My activation is sooner than yours, March 20, but how cool! I've never heard of your loss, I'm sorry. That must be very hard to lose your hearing so quickly and suddenly as an adult. I lost my hearing instantaneously at 8 years...

    CI Surgery Date :)

Hahaha, a little! My Mom is calling me Alexaya Bionica and Alex 2.0 :P It wasn't really REAL until I took the bandage off and felt the implant. Now it's real!

Removed my bandage today! Incision looks pretty good! Top half of my ear is numb. I can feel the imant under the skin, and a paper clip sticks to the magnet! Pain is doing good, no steps backwards. Very happy with my recovery so far :)

    Have you pimped your ears?

I have to figure out a way to pimp my CI! I'll use nail stickers but I need to figure out charms and stuff too lol!

Thanks everyone! Everything went well. I finally found relief from the awful jaw pain. Have the freight train in my ear, along with 2 different pitches of constant tinnitus, and a third pitch of bell-ringing tinnitus. Fun fun, lol! Activation is 3/20 :)

    Earmold Tube Locks..

I can just push mine in. I push it in at the entrance to the tube canal, then I push my tube in. The tube pushes the tube lock further in until the lock locks onto the tube.

HA vs CI's-looking for personal experiences

It'll be way better. You'll have way more understanding. HA's just amplify sound, they don't make it any clearer. You probably qualify for a CI, as long as your speech discrimination scores are low enough.

    its that time...new earmolds!

Love them! That's about what my left looks like but there's no blue. It's a pale-ish purple. My right one is bright purple.

    CI Surgery Date :)

Yes, House Ear is where I had problems. However, they are a great clinic! One of the Audiologists just had it set in her mind that I was faking, no matter how much evidence continued to prove her wrong! The surgeon was great, although we were annoyed that he backed up the audiologist instead of...
