    CI Surgery approved today

Wow Angel that's awful! I'm so sorry that happened to you :( When my voice sounds like I'm underwater I immediately take decongestant. It's a recurring problem for me, though.

Am I crazy to feel this way?

Not crazy at all, I felt exactly the same way!!

    CI Surgery Date :)

I'm getting more speech :) Mostly when I'm watching TV because reading the captions magically enables me to understand the words with my implant lol. I'm on the 2nd program with the volume all the way up. Will move to program 3 after I get dressed :)

I agree that it's deceptively big in pictures! The first thing I said when my Audi handed it to me was "It's so tiny!!" You get 4 cord choices(2 UHP and 2 Aqua) The lengths are 6", 12", 18", 24", and 32". I got 2 6" (one UHP and one Aqua), a 12" (UHP) and a 24" (Aqua). You can use Aqua cords if...

    CI Surgery Date :)

You get to choose 4 cable lengths and colors, 2 are UHP cords, 2 are Aqua cords. You also get to choose the accessories you want for wearing it. I chose the arm band, pouch, and headband (holds the magnet on while you swim). You automatically get the clip. The T-Comm is an option, you can get...

    CI Surgery Date :)

Have had my CI on since 6am, minus two one hour blocks, so the rechargeable is 14hrs and still going :)

    CI Surgery Date :)

My tinnitus is usually better when the implant is on, unless it's quiet. When it's off, it comes back. Basically unless my ear is hearing it has tinnitus. I haven't been able to watch TV without captions since I was 8, before I went deaf. That hasn't changed at all yet. Maybe one day, but...

    CI Surgery Date :)

What BP said :) Comes with 4 rechargeables, the charger, and 8 disposables. The disposables last me about 14 hours of on time. Will let you know on the rechargeable as today is the first time I've used one. The use of AAA's is one of Neptune's benefits because if your Neptune dies while you're...

WTHeck are you talking about?! And did you seriously just post a song with no captions on a deaf message board?! You never cease to rack my brain...

    HA vs CI"s

Hahaha!! Thanks!! Just updated my avatar to a pic of my CI with the violet covers from yesterday :) Had the blue on today as it matched my outfit :)

WOOPS LOL!!! I changed my signature on my phone earlier today, so I'll blame it on the wonky format :P CI is right ear, HA is left :)

    CI Surgery Date :)

But you don't have a CI?! Hearing with aids is completely different from a CI, of course you never had electronic voices. HA's provide amplified auditory signals. CI's provide electrical signals. A CI implanted almost always has to re-learn how to hear (if they've ever heard) because it's...

Not monotone. I can hear the inflection in voices. They just don't sound like voices :P And yes, it will progress to normal voices for most people!

    What the???

    HA vs CI"s

I'm using the T-Comm! It alone irritates my incision, so I'm very happy it's so tiny and lightweight, and that I could be activated with the Neptune! Wild Violet, Tropical Sea, and white (comes with Connect). I blinged hem out with nail sticker today :P We still haven't been billed :duck: So...

No problem JadeSky :) Everything's healed, just getting through some discomfort from having the processor on over the implant and incision. I made it to 3pm today before I had to turn myself off due to exhaustion and a headache. I'm on program 2, which means I'm set a little louder than I was on...

    What the???

There's more than two sides. I'm not in either of the two sides you mentioned. I am and was comfortable with my Deafness. I embraced Deaf culture and ASL as an adult, and used speech reading to communicate with the hearing. I wasn't scared and I coped just fine. I chose to get a CI because I was...
