We stand apart in the world in the number of guns we have. We stand apart amongst the wealthier nations with a phenomenal gun death murder rate. Switzerland was used as an example: Switzerland citizens have 1/2 the guns as the US. 88/100 citizens to 45/100 citizens.

First off, none of the children in China died from the attack. Some were quickly released from the hospital. We can expect more and more lethal hand-held weapons in the US in the future. Society is indeed the problem. Doing nothing is not the answer.

I have a feeling, Ambrosia, that you are not saying that the answer is to "buy a gun." But, expect that every time that we have this sort of thing happen - there is a spike in gun sales. If guns were the answer, the US would be the safest place in the world.

We might also reinstate the federal assault weapons ban that this country had between 1994 and 2004. It prohibited the manufacturing of certain semi-automatic weapons for civilian use.

We might also increase the waiting period for a gun purchase from licensed dealers. Only a few states have any waiting period, at all. Sometimes it is as short as 2 days for those that have that wait.
