    Weird earmold experience

My audi charges $60 per mould, but there's a 3-month trial too. If you're not happy with your moulds, just come back and get new ones done free of charge. I've been going to this place since I was a kid and this was the first I'd heard of that (granted, my parents took care of everything; I just...

Do your hearing aids set off security in stores?

You know those "doors" or beams you walk through to enter or exit a store, and if you're carrying something that wasn't paid for, the beams will go off and announce the horrible thing you've done to the entire store? Okay, well, around Christmastime when doing Christmas shopping, I couldn't help...

Five Houseplants That Clean the Air

It should be noted that Asparagas Fern and English Ivy are toxic to cats (being a cat owner, I always check that any plant that might enter my home is safe for my little grazing cows). The other three are non-toxic.

Scientists Discover Cure for Color Blindness

One famous person (Monty Roberts) is colorblind, and he once tried contacts (or something) that showed him the world in color. He said it gave him a headache, as the world was too "loud" and chaotic. He also says that seeing in black & white is easier because you can focus better. Makes sense...

    Favorite quotes

My favorite quotes aren't really wisdom quotes, more like humor quotes. Some people are like slinkies... Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs (I have this as my signature in a lot of forums, might be on this one too) Johnny...

San Francisco May Ban Declawing Cats

Well, I believe it's only humans who get upset at the thought of "ball removal." Cats and dogs couldn't care less, they don't even notice when their testosterone level goes down. Their balls don't run their lives; they may feel a STRONG need to get out and mate when they smell girls in heat, but...

San Francisco May Ban Declawing Cats

There are alternates to declawing, like SoftPaws (little caps you put over the nails so nothing will get scratched up) or you can clip the nails every couple of weeks. Get a good cat tree and teach the cat the difference between "good scratching" and "bad scratching". Cats NEED to scratch, to...

If given the chance to be hearing would you?

I have behind-the-ear, and it's the only type I've ever had. I've never had a problem with them except for when the moulds would get too small from my growing and aging. I can't remember anymore if moulds will shrink from the chemicals in the ear (I know I heard that, but I haven't read it...

    Dogs and T Storms!

That's the first thing one should do, definitely. The dog may have a fear, but when his human starts cooing and petting, she's essentially telling the dog that there's something worth being afraid of, that his fear is completely legit. Thus, he's not going to be calmed, he's going to be even...

If given the chance to be hearing would you?

I would want to be hearing. I'm not completely deaf, but I'm half deaf in each ear and really, the kicker in choosing to be hearing is all the hassle of hearing aids. I don't know ASL (except numbers 1-10, lol), but I lip-read and I can hear well enough that I can understand people, and if some...

    Your first ever job

My first job was at a movie theatre. I figured I'd work there for 6 months or so, get some heft to my resume, but 2 years later, I still can't bear to leave. I love it, and I've finally reached what is, in my opinion, the best position in a theatre: projection work (only the longest-hired people...

    Do Your Cat(s) Control You?

There are a lot of cats who are "touchy-feely," but Molly is the first cat I've had that actually uses her paws a lot. All other cats we've had just used their paws for walking and occasionally pushing something off a shelf ("mwhahahahahaha!"). But Molly, right from the start, understood that...

    Deafness

I was about 5 or 6. My kindergarten teacher noticed I was exceptionally quiet, so she asked my parents if they'd considered if I was deaf or hard of hearing (they never really thought about it. The doctor who delivered me told mom to watch out for hearing problems because one ear was smaller...

    How to train your cat.

I think it depends on the cat. If the cat tends to just lay around all day, you're most likely not going to be able to train it to do anything, lol. Maybe you can associate it to understand the crack of a can opening means suppertime is here, and she'll come running to the kitchen. But that's...

    Barking Hearing dog!

Personally, I believe all dogs should be allowed to bark without fear. I don't mean they should feel they have the right to bark for hours on end, but it's a valuable tool when they bark when they hear someone coming up to your doorstep. I don't care when Jake barks, I'm just glad he's being a...

    Barking Hearing dog!

Stand next to him and place your hand around his muzzle, kind of like you're holding it shut. Then growl in a deep voice "Enough" or "No Bark". It's much more similar to what another dog would do, which would be to hold his mouth over a pup's mouth to curb the barking.

Should You Let Ur Pet Sleep in Ur Bed?

All the more room for the cat! lol :ty:

I recently got new dog and need advice to teach dog.

Basically train it just like normal, but use the sign language as you're speaking it. Most dogs associate the sound coming out of your mouth with placing his butt on the floor or lifting a paw to shake. It's no different when you hold up your hand use a certain motion. Only thing I would suggest...

How many pets do you have?

Absolutely nothing. Maybe the poster was thinking of cooking things with bones, since that would make the bones brittle and dangerous. Bones can only be safe when raw or frozen. There's also debate which has more nutrition: cooking food or keeping it raw. Cooking it depletes some nutrition.

Should You Let Ur Pet Sleep in Ur Bed?

I love sleeping with my babies. My three cats are free to sleep with me, I don't even think about whether they're allowed there or not. If Molly hops up, I immediately start stroking her and cooing and just wait for her to curl up behind my knee. Buffy and Willow don't sleep with me much anymore...
