America is too desperate. When it will excuse people with disabilities being mocked, Ethnic groups are insulted & Hate groups are tolerated. I know people are suffering economically, but god is this the price of prosperity?

I feel hatred out there. Let us move Hearing loss a side as a disability (That is another debate). Why can we let slide his mocking disabled reporter. PC may annoy some of us but what has become of if you do not have something nice to say (You know the rest).

No one has considered how much hate is in this country right now. Racial hate, Class warfare and just plain disrespect. We really need a lot more Live and let live, we may not like each other but a little respect goes a long way.

I have progressive nerve loss & since I manage fairly well some people think I am just fine. This is stupid and uninformed. I used to do phone work and at times wanted to rip the damn thing out the wall and kill it. I have applied for just something straight office but have to hear this crap...

Don't feel bad. We all want normal hearing but only normal ears can do that. How long have you had you CI? I sometimes feel like my HAs sound like a sound synthesizer.

I posted here wondering if the ADA was any help also.

I have a question regarding balancing work and regular maintenance appointments for your HAs or CIs?

My HAs help but I still get wiped out and being a Type 1 Diabetic also does not help.

To much is made of CIs curing deafness in children or anyone else. They provide access to sound, how well someone utilizes that access varies. It is just a general rule that children implanted early adapt to CIs better, just like they learn multiple languages easier.

My HAs help me a lot but my loss limits what they can do. CIs biggest pro is that they go to the cochlea where the problem stems from in nerve losses.

All that is true but in this case our issue is our hearing losses and deficits. Just last night there was a rerun of Sicko was on. There was a little girl that needed a second CI and the insurance company only paided up after the father went to Michael Moore.

Insurance companies never gave me any help with my HAs analog or digital. One companies told me HAs do not contribute to overall health.

Digital signal Processing in current HAs make them much more effective than their Analog progenitors. Since CIs are only covered only after someone's hearing reaches the absolute worst state. Progressive loss or not people require as much assistance possible until a CI becomes a covered option.
