Handicapped Parking Permits & Deaf people

Personally, in this era of police with itchy trigger fingers. I would think that license plates stating Hard of Hearing/Deaf would be more helpful.

It consists of two simulations. Speech through an HA, then speech through a CI.

    Confused & angry

The job description listed good communication skills. The thing is no one else Friends, Family, Coworkers or past customers from my last position or my temp work up to now have ever mentioned anything regarding my speech other than I speak loudly. I wear Niadas so it was apparent to the...

    Confused & angry

I know I speak differently due to my hearing loss, but I was recently turned down for a job and one of the reasons given was that I slurred my speech. Before I was laid off I worked for 16 years on the phone doing Customer Service and no one ever said anything regarding my speech. Confused and...

    Any one else bordeline ci

My loss is progressive. When I was tested Niadas were suggested due to the fact they are the most powerful and sophisticated HAs on the market. I am severe to profound ski-slope: After the Niadas the CI is the next viable option.

    Any one else bordeline ci

Sometime I feel in limbo. At present I use Phonak Niadas (They work for me most of the time). The issue is that I have been evaluated as just up to the line for a CI but not across it. I am just curious if anyone else is borderline like that?

    Six year old with ci

I am honestly not quite sure how to respond to this. :o It was nice, that experience, yes? I can see it in my mind, that fluid interaction between a child and the parent. It is beautiful. Have you seen a deaf child interact fluidly with a parent? That is beautiful as well. I will just assume...

    Six year old with ci

First: This is not a pro CI thread (Just an observation). Me and my wife were browsing in a toy store, when I happened to notice a six year old with a CI conversing with her mother about a toy she wanted. I did not approach them (Just observed). I know that results vary from child to child...

    Medical model and cochlears

We depend on our hearing & ear. Evolution never gives you what you do not need. HAs & CIs were invented because it may be sense you can manage without but natures intention was that you don't.

    Whether to consider hearing aids/cochlear

Most important things is doing what is best for your child. Others opinions are just that opinions.

Confused about a ci or keeping hearing aids?

Well you seem to be getting assistance from your HAs. They only give you an implant when HAs are useless.
