    CI Relationships

Dont be surprised if she decides she is better off without him. And boy will that be a shock to his ego, just like to my ex 7 years ago. The hearie usually thinks the deafie is so dependant upon them that they wont go it alone. Mind you it wasnt hearing/deaf issues that broke us up as he was...

    Deaf culture - do's and don'ts, etc. Let's make a list!

My response would be a more direct "get lost loser"

    Grannies CI Diary

Thought I had better bring this topic over here as have been hijacking Suzies thread somewhat. Was asked what my strategy is and I'm like:dunno2: strategy , whats that. So went looked at my program sheet and find that under strategy is written "none" Bit worried now as I may be missing...

What is a polite way to get a deaf/hoh person's attention?

Forget the Depends, get Chase a bib, feeder (whatever you guys call it), quick smart should have realised starkers was a "down under" word.

What is a polite way to get a deaf/hoh person's attention?

Well it certainly didnt take an air horn to snap me out when I was flitting round my kitchen starkers and my 31yr old son came up behind me and whisper lightly tapped my shoudler..........no Depends to help out either Chase!!!!! And for your info I do live alone so should be able to flit...

    My time has come!

Just had a look at the Cochlear Aust site as thats where my CI comes from. I think I will have to start asking more technical questions rather than just going with the flow. Will email a couple of people and see what comes up as you have me worried I may not be getting the best result. Maybe...

What is a polite way to get a deaf/hoh person's attention?

QUOTE=August;952617]statistically, the most proven, fail-safe methods of garnering attention are the "zap 'em with a cattle prod" and "shoot 'em with a 250,000 volt stun gun" techniques. however, these methods have waned in recent years after studies showed that the users of such devices were...

    My time has come!

Mmmmmm....technical questions send me scurrying for my folder to check latest mapping. Not sure how to read these things but here goes. So far I have 4 programs, soft, med and loud with a "party" program as I complanined about the sensory overload after a rowdy weekend! I see that under the...

    CI Relationships

Thanks Shel. Not wanting to be friends anymore or not accommodating your friends is just not on, your better off without these people. For the purpose of this thread I am most interested in romantic relationships, marriages between hearing and deaf. Pindrop :: Giving sound to silence

    CI Relationships

Thought I would start a new thread for this rather than use my diary thread. May get more replies that way. Has anyone found that their relationship changes or even falls apart after being implanted? I dont mean right away, but further down the track when it all comes together and the deaf...

    My time has come!

I think the beeping may be actual sounds. I have stopped and listened for the beeping and when nothing is happening they stop, only to start up again whenever I do something or someone speaks.

Did I commit a faux pas?

You could have another talk to her and explain yourself more fully, however you did nothing wrong. She sounds like she really wants CI anyway and is only afraid of being offside with any deafies she knows. In situations like this it only takes a couple of outside comments to make up ones mind...

    Grannies CI Diary

Tried to reply last night but the gremlins were playing and closed me down!!!! Must get new PC this year. Yes the party program is autosensitive, volume goes up and sensivity goes down. As I read a lot the turning of pages is something I have really notice. Also sound of pins dropping...

    Grannies CI Diary

Another long day at CI clinic, more mapping and word recognition tests. I now have a program for "wild parties" after telling audie that I was totally stuffed over weekend with parties on sat and sun nights. Talk about sensory overload, especially as it involved telling the same switchon story...

I didn't want to say anything but......

Check out post 43, I've already told her to check metal thing, like clotheslines etc.

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

My experience wasnt with the audie herself, rather the receptionist at medical clinic. This is the govt clinic where they do all the CI's for North Island so you would think all the staff would at least be aware that they are dealing with people who are either preparing for CI or waiting for...

I didn't want to say anything but......

Not sure if this is any help but a mate of mine was hanging out the washing on old wire clothesline and his CI kept magneting onto the wire. If you have been around anything metal maybe your CI has latched onto that and is in some place not easliy noticable.
