On a scale of 1 - 10 with 1 being poor and 10 being excellent, how would you rate your hearing with a HA and how is it now with an implant? This is only for adults that were born deaf and wore HA for years before moving onto an implant please, as I need experiences similar to my own :)

I am living in the UK and two months ago, I had my Cochlear Implant assessments...the team have had their meeting weeks and weeks ago and I found out recently that they still haven't submitted the forms to request funding for the op - basically I still haven't got a 'yes' or a 'no' for cochlear...

can my loss really be considered a progressive loss? I dunno I've always seen or thought progressive losses as starting off with a mild loss and it kept on going through the different categories of hearing loss mild/moderate/severe/profound etc

phew. thank you. I just wish there was more in the literature about adults born deaf/HOH but wore HA all their lives with lots of benefit... it's making me think 'what am I getting myself into - there's not much information for people with my hearing history?!' lol

When I say I don't remember struggling to hear as a child, I mean I can remember hearing the teachers speak and understanding without lip-reading, I remember having convos with other kids and not saying 'what' continuously, I remember hearing what they were saying from a distance etc. This is...

The more rehab I do.. the better my hearing will get right? (or is there a limit). Does that mean adults who were born profoundly deaf can get a lot of benefit if they keep on re-habbing? xxx

I hope that ability will come back... I just remember hearing so much more as a child and teen! I just don't remember struggling to hear as a child. But I am terrified I won't benefit much from an implant being pre-lingually deafened
