Not very highly acclaimed? Wikipedia says, As for The Second Encounter, it has 85% on Game Rankings. Similar story for both games on Metacritic and GameStats. It wasn't universal acclaim, but 85% is still a good bit of critical praise. The hardcore gamers loved it, too.
