Why business at Sears is declining

Well in my opinion the displays are crappy because they're not doing well. Think about it, when they're barely selling anything they can't afford fancy displays and have to get by on "good enough"

I look at this way nothing is made in USA anymore and people no longer seem to take pride in what they're selling. People use to be proud to show people how well an item was made , now everything is overprice junk .

I've shopped a lot in Sears lately and the stores I've been to around here (Eaton Centre and Yorkdale in Toronto) are both bright, clean, well stocked and look nice. Likewise the store in Peterborough, ON which was to a similar high standard.

If you want a store that is somehow surviving against the odds around here, it's The Bay. Giant stores of sparse, overpriced merchandise and unpleasant, unhelpful staff (if you can find any).

The Sears we have in Tampa, and the one I frequent by my mothers house in St. Petersburg are both very nice, very well stocked and very well displayed. Never had an issue or a WTF moment going into any of them. :dunno:

I went to four stores looking for turtlenecks and fleece jackets. Of the turtlenecks, all like them felt like nylon - all of them. No pure cotton for layering, they all felt like nylons and fit awful. Of the fleece, even Northface (which is way to expensive) felt thin and cheap. Socks are no better....it's a wonder there aren't complaints about the quality of clothes.

quality turtlenecks and fleece jackets? easy. I go to my favorite camping store - Ramsey Outdoor.

You won't find quality one at chain sporting goods store like Dick's and Sport Authority because all they sell is some crap like Under Armour and Northface at ridiculous price. You'll need to go to a real camping store.

I said that they "have been"

but dude, they can't even afford a good website :eek3:

Sears Archives Home Page

It is just sad seeing history fade away like that

I am sure fairly soon, we will all be issued our very own fleece jackets, bars of soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Oh .. talk about fleecing ...

I brought a camera at Sears and I got their Sears card to save a little money. I should had paid it right off at the store but did not think of it. I got a called from Sears and a guy wanted to know if I want to upgrade my card I told the guy "NO thanks ,that they're like a loan shark no you're worst than a loan shark!" The guy LOL and said " Yes we're that bad!"'

No surprise, I never like Sears and Kmart.

Seriously, I prefer Walmart over Kmart, despite negative thought on Walmart.

Kmart shut down here... I'm sure there are other shutdowns out there.
Sears going downhill.. I bought my tires at America Tire Co because it's cheaper than Sears and still offers free lifetime rotation and balance.
Radio Shacks has been struggling for some time.

I used to buy Levi jeans, not anymore. I still wear the same pairs I had since highschool, they are heavy material and fit great, but the new levi's are thin and crappy materials so I just buy the $10 carpenter jeans at walmart. I have had 2 pairs of them that has lasted me 10 years. They aren't the best but beat spending $60-$80 on a pair of crappy jeans for the name.

Best place for warm comfortable clothing, and year round clothing is Uncle Sams, its a Military surplus store here in Missouri, you can find one just about anywhere here. I know of 6 of them, buy everything from MRE's, cook stoves, tents...ect... Live the great outdoors.

I don't know why The Kardashians chose Sears to sell their clothong line.

Our Sears is very nice but we still only seem to purchase appliances there.

I use to buy tools for lifetime warranty as exchange when broken tools at Sears.

I am having the same problem trying to find 100 % cotton turtlenecks , I hate the nylons ones , they do fix awful and feel awful too . Plus your skin can't breath and you feel cold . The socks are horrible , they're being made so small that try can cut off your blood in your legs . Women shoes are a joke too ., overprice crap.
