WTF are you saying? There are no missing weapons?

OFC, not all cops are dirty but there are some.

What I meant by my previous post is that some cops might sell weapons for money they need so bad. Who knows? No? You saw everything?

(CNN) -- The U.S. Park Police is failing to adequately keep track of its firearms, creating an environment in which weapons are vulnerable to theft or misuse, according to a government report released Friday.

Due to "a lackadaisical attitude toward firearms management" by commanders, investigators said they found "credible evidence of conditions that would allow for theft and misuse of firearms, and the ability to conceal the fact if weapons were missing."

In a force of approximately 640 officers, the report says, hundreds of weapons were not properly accounted for. The auditors also allege that the agency has more than 1,400 extra weapons, including 477 military-style automatic and semiautomatic rifles.

The audit asserts that a former chief of the Park Police never turned in his handgun, and 10 years after his retirement it was taken from him by an instructor at a qualification course for retired law enforcement officers, who happened to notice the former chief still had government property.

I can easily understand if dozens of guns were taken home and never turned in even after retirement because one thing you should know about a man and his gun... a gun he carries by his side is his life. it's what keeps him alive from the first day of his job till retirement.

There are not guns necessarily missing. There could be but the point of the article is that they haven't kept track of their guns so no one knows what they have or don't have. Seems they might even have some extra.

So are you saying that's impossible?

As you may recall, there were several dirty cops busted for stealing drugs from evidence dept and selling them for money a few years ago.

nope. just not likely in this case. ATF? sure. DEA? sure. I believe these agencies are illegal and they're a bunch of rogue hoodlums who think they're above the law.

lot of times - some missing guns will turn up at later time.

this is not drug... it's firearm. you're talking about drugs. drugs are much easier to sell than firearms. firearms are traceable, drugs are not.

My point is why they did this. MONEY! They were desperate for money. That's nothing new. Cops don't make good pay. Right?

neither does USPS. is that why they steal some credit card mails and dump bunch of stuff into garbage can?

You're just determined to pin this on cops, aren't you? Here's another way guns disppear, breaking and entering into private home owners that happen to own guns. Mismangement happens a lot in governement and law enforcement. Like I said, this is really, really old news.

Then the cop who brought government property home would have reported it stolen so it should be in the record.
