Is this possible?

I am not here pushing a brand just what it can do. These phonaks I was watching not knowing what she was doing making the adjustments on the computer and the screen showing what she was doing. I specifically asked her to somehow raise the volume of people speaking within six feet around me and to somehow push the background noise further back into the background. She did that. I watched it. I realize now that is what NaidaUP was talking about. I used Starkey and Widex for nearly 40 years, they do not do what these things do. I heard sounds I had not heard in all those years. It was an emotional experience. There are still adjustments to be made I think what she is talking about is spot on.

Doesn't mean you can't try things! What works for other people and what won't work for you is totally different.

I have an app with my audiologists today.

The fact he higher my left and is sounds so much better means that it may work. Just at the moment, I feel lopsided in my hearing as the speech line is not giving me equal volume on both ears.
True, but on the other hand, it pretty much is a fact that hearing aids overall aren't at ALL like nautrual hearing. It's a good tool to have, but it's very sad that you depend on your hearing so much......why not try other alternatives like speechreading, sign etc? You'll have more tools in the toolbox, and won't be frustrated at your lack of hearing in one particular frequency....there are many many other ways to compensate....and I do find it rather sad that you feel you can't function without hearing.

Impressive. But, that would also mean you had to learn how to hear. I s it possible you are still learning how to hear.

Gotta admit... That is a a Wow moment..

I hear speech but if I don't look at people, I don't get the convo. Altho this has helped, it doesn't mean I don't have to lipread.

Umm, I do lipread thanks and sign, so don't assume sometbing before you know the full truth!! spend my life Lipreading. Why can't we get the most out of our hearing aids??!! Seems a but silly really, eh!!

Who said I'm frustrated, all I asked was a question?

You wouldn't get new hearing aids and they be set so your are basically still 100% Lipreading, that's not point. Digital aids do so much more, I may as well use it.

This hasn't changed my left speech score of 0% with noise. It has altho improved my right speech score to 54% in noise!!

Are you actually profoundly deaf????

i think its an individual thing. When I was in high school and then fresh in college - my analog hearing aid was tweaked in a way so I could hear certain sounds at a certain pitch. I was very fussy about it. Just a hair turn left or right of the controls makes a biiiig difference to me. for some people they cant tell. When I got these siemens digital aids - I lost the ability to adjust it on my own, but I had to go back multiple times to tweak it, and I hated doing it that way because its in quiet office environment. music on a radio wont help. I just need to be at home tweaking it and check in difference sounds places. Once I understand the "relationship" of sounds in places I was in and the settings I am sure I can tweak it even better.

To OP - go ahead and adjust it. it wouldnt cost a thing right? You do have more then one mode right like mine does? having more then one mode will allow you to go back to first preferred programming .

It is def a individual thing as everyone hears SO differently. Same way one person will like one brand and one person would hate that brand.

I only ever had one program and then my FM program before.
My everyday program is perfect and won't be changed. Can't see why there is such a problem me trying other ways of listening and using my free programming slots!

Please direct us to the post where she said she cannot function without hearing.

Your negative attitude is implying none of us should try to get the best use out of our HAs. We should probably just not bother with audis anymore or trials with different brands of HAs to see what works best for us, power-wise, size-wise, programming-wise.

DeafDyke has really quite annoyed me why what he said. (The bit that you have highlighted).

everyone is very different upbringings. Respect for others whatever they want to do with HA or CI to rely on the sound.

just ignore deafdyke and do what you need to do to make YOU happy. You got a powerful hearing aid, might as well try to take advantage of all that it offers! I'm even gonna bug my audie about messing with mine a bit haha. :)

Hearing Aids are a tool to help. So are a lot of things.

Exactly. Guys, I'm not one of those anti HA/CI folks....and I do think HAs and CIs are an awesome tool. I mean yes, you should try to maximize your use of hearing....but at the same time.....is it really THAT vitial? Like yes, in some cases it might help increase word understanding, but on the other hand......I'm just saying that hearing aids and CIs are kinda limited as to what they can do. I mean yeah, it's great if they can somehow tweak the aid so you can hear better, but what will you do if you can't access that frequency?

She was implying it......

Where and when?????????????????? Can you stop putting me down please!!!!!!!!

I really don't think you have any idea what I'm thinking and especially not as you are not profoundly deaf!!!!!

Do you actually have a noise program?? It's very common for people to have this program, its deemed as standard!!
