Obama toman convicted of DUI "This Bud's For You"

Perjury is perjury. It doesn't matter how mundane the topic is. Even if I lied under oath about the color of my car or where I went shopping yesterday, that would be perjury. Details matter in court cases.

Not arguing that he didn't commit perjury. And he was charged for it.

no. he was acquitted.

Uh, no, he wasn't. he was formally convicted for perjury and he had to pay paula jones $850,000. he just wasn't convicted on impeachment charges. essentailly there were two convictions against him. he was acquitted only on one of them. which was the impeachment charges.

What about the original thread topic: Obama had a beer with the plumber? How did we get to Clinton's Impeachment and castrating the poor before they breed?

good question. meandering and going off on tangents happen a lot here on AD.

It happens a lot when following (T)rolling around the current events areas. Sadly, it keeps happening repeatedly. Catholics in the immigration thread, immigrants in the Palin thread, Clinton impeached and poor people having welfare babies in the Obama drinks beer thread. I find it both frustrating and embarrassing.

You mean this?

In 1998, as a result of issues surrounding personal indiscretions with a young woman White House intern, Clinton was the second U.S. president to be impeached by the House of Representatives.

A person was arrested and charged with whatever. Jury acquitted him.

does that still mean - he was charged?

Yes.....in fact the charge will still appear on the criminal record in many cases.
