Did you know that carrots are good for your eyes?

Carrots has a vitamin called beta-carotene in it. Beta-cerotene helps your eyes process bad UV rays from the sun.

Did you know that it's best to eat slow and chew your food?

Chewing is the first step in chemical digestion. It may even be the most important part in digesting food. When your body is absorbing nutrients, you make it a ten-fold easier when you properly ground and chew up your food.

Yes, I have known this for many years.

Yes, my grandmother used to remind me of this all the times. :)

Thanks for sharing with us. :)

There's plenty of remedies I know from grand-mère! It's such a pity that people nowadays don't even know half of them!

I've heard the story about carrots being good for the eyes ever since I was a child and attended a camp for the blind. All of my friends who had partial vision would tell me how much they hated it when their mother would force them to eat carrots or people would tell them to do this so they could see better.

As for chewing your food carefully, my mother always told me that. Sometimes though if I'm really hungry I don't do this. I'll never forget one evening when I was eating a Nestle Crunch Bar and didn't chew it properly. After I swallowed it, I couldn't breathe. I tried to cough it up (sorry for being graphic) but couldn't. I finally had to give myself the Heimlich (using the back of a chair) in order to breathe again. :(

Really? That sounds equivilant to forcing deaf people to oralism.

I need to chew slower...but I keep forgetting.

That kind of thing happens all the time to people who are low vision or legally blind. You'd be amazed.

And I agree with you about your comparison to oralism. Very true.

Yes, I'm aware that carrots are good for you. I like carrot juice. :)

Did you know that grapes and celery help you lose weight.

Grapes contain a phytonutrient called resveratrol, which is an antioxidant that helps fight cancer and heart disease. Resveratrol is being researched for a possible role in protecting and maintaining brain and nerve health. Grapes also contain additional phytonutrients such as catechchins, anthocyanins, and quercetin, which are also antioxidants.

It's true, grapes are healthy and one of Mother Nature's most convenient snack foods. Rich in compounds that protect against cancer and high in potassium, grapes are great foods while trying to lose weight.

Is this old wives tales? Carrots are only good for your eyes if you have a Vitamin A deficiency . Check your information with credible sources before presenting it.

Yes Indeed, I'm aware about carrots.

I do eat carrot, tomato, grape and celery and of course vegetables too.

I also drank 100% berry juice.

Yes, Fruits are also good for ya too.

Some fruit had many vitamin in it.

Some people don't like either carrots or vegetables even fruits. So instead they use vitamin pills.

Peace

Yes I am well aware of that for a long time. It´s not just eyes but skin as well.

Did you know that COOKED carrots topped with some kind of oil is BEST absorbed?

Beta carotene is locked in cells so cooking can break down those cells and beta carotene is fat soluble so you need little butter or oil to make it absorbed in your stomach.

It is also equally true for lypocene found in tomatoes.

Green leafy foods also contains folic acid! important nutrient for anyone planning on a pregnancy.

I knew about the carrots and the tomatoes and all that but good reminder!

<possibility of grapes and raisins toxic to dogs though; evidence/direct correlation not conclusive but many vets will say so>

veggies like cucumbers, lettuce mostly water; cucumber is naturally a cooling food due to high water content and vit. c. Dark leafy greens/mixed greens have more nutrition properties than iceberg lettuce.

Cranberry works because the compounds in the cranberry prevent the bacteria from sticking to the bladder walls. If you can manage it, taking cranberry pills is more effective than using the juice because of the sugar in the juice and the sheer amount of juice you'd have to drink to equal the pills. I take cranberry pills daily as I have a history of frequent <like more than 3 x yr.> UTI's. My female Rottie takes the supplement also-
