Thumbs up Signature Rating & Help Thread

Oh, I was excepting there was a thread with siggy things, but there is none. So I thought we would enjoy posting our OWN siggies, banners, logolikes and others and we can help each other if you have problems with that. ;] This thread would be great to be sticked. ;]

Herer are my newest sigs:

A lot of old siggies in my old deviantart:
Wolfwood02's deviantART Gallery
(I don't log into that old DA anymore, here is my new DA: d3afn3ss1337.deviantart.com)

Those signature images look nice... but too big.

I prefer that images in signatures are 100 pixels high or less.

It gets annoying when someone goes flashing a huge picture in your face when they're in the forums to read what other people say, not to have some huge picture waved in their faces.

Too big? Your opinion. And,

Maybe I didn't explain enough details, this thread that we post any siggies/logolike for this forum, websites and others. Or am I not allowed to post those "big-ish" siggies in the thread, not signature box? Sorry if I didn't clearly explain.

I know they're not allowed in the signature BOX, but what is AD? AND I have read the rule. I mean we post siggies, not put sigs in our box. Like pictures we enjoy posting...

AD = Alldeaf. (short for it) and yeah, can show off, but it is a bit too big if someone wants one of them to use in our threads, though

I know what you meant. I was just expressing my opinion. I've seen some blogs where people post a HUGE collection of signatures, then complain that no one wants to use them. The reason why no one uses them is cuz they're too big.

I'm a simple guy. As you can see from my signature, the image changes randomly every time the page loads. Can you figure out how many there are?

You know, before I used to have vision, I would love to change my signatures as often as I changed my underwear!

I know Vampy would recall how I would try to bend the rules to have animated signatures.

Signatures are great but they can be eyesores. I try to make mine really small. Festive signatures I do for the holidays and that's about it.

vampy and i recently had a conversation about my signature. he made some great recommendations, so i changed it. i've found that i like having a signature which lists an informative website and a quote instead of a large picture that takes up far too much room. besides, graphic signatures don't do any good for deafblind people who can't see them.

That's right. The general definition of "signature" is something small and simple... about you.

It can be a quote, the due date of your baby, a small image of something you like, or whatever you want.

That doesn't mean you should put an autobiography in your signature. It also means that the image shouldn't be super-sized because it's a public forum... not your personal blog. Making the signatures too big pretty much defeats the purpose of a signature.

If it's too big, members have to scroll down more to read the threads and it makes the webpage less read-worthy.

If a person absolutely has to have more than one link, they can be shortened.

For instance, I want to have 5 links in my signature. Here's what the annoying signature would look like...

Google
Digg - All News, Videos, & Images
Deaf Chat | People Deaf Culture - AllDeaf.com
Funny Videos, Funny Pictures, Flash Games, Jokes
MySpace

That's 5 lines of links. I could make it look better by doing this...

Google | Digg | AllDeaf | Ebaum's World | MySpace

vampy,

question for you.

i have one website about bipolar that i'd like to add to my signature. how do i format that url so it appears the same way you described? i used TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL to shorten one website, but i'd really like to add another if possible.

thanks.

It's quite easy.

For instance, I want to convert...

Code:
http://www.google.com
to

Google

The code looks like this...

PHP Code:
[url=http://www.google.com]LINK[/url]
LINK is replaced with whatever I want.

I could make my link to Google say "VamPyroX Rocks!"

PHP Code:
[url=http://www.google.com]VamPyroX Rocks![/url]
Here's the result... (move your cursor over the link, you'll see it still takes you to Google)

VamPyroX Rocks!

thanks again.

Not seconded.

Thread remains open.

Your signature looks nice. Did you make any animated signatures? If so, I want to see it. I can show you mine.
I used to be signature designer, but reason why I say I used to be, because more hearing people want to put music in the signature, boy, that takes a lot of memory space in my computer, forget it. Right now I make my own signatures for several forums I'm in. Nice work, keep going!

Just a note to let you know this - If you want your thread to be closed; You would need to request one of the Moderators to close the thread for you.

So, with that, Do you still want your thread to be closed?

Yes, but I didn't created my OWN, I edited some gifs from 4chan.org and other random websites. Here is:
(They are my friends from Final Fantasy XI. I pwn'd them. ;p)
And other two animation siggies that I just chopped, not created:

http://fc25.deviantart.com/fs34/f/20...AFN3SS1337.gif
PS: I've been thinking about creating my own first animation sig of 'caramell dansen' on FFXI. I'll create that soon.

Those animations look nice, but too big... 4 MB and 3 MB.

A good signature should be simple and small... not over-sized.
