Boehner Rejects Senate Payroll Bill, Pushes for 1-Year Deal - Yahoo! News

Our government needs to get it together! Compromise one way or the other or get out! I hope they all stay in Washington until the new year! Why can't we have a year long agreement on the tax cut and pass the oil pipeline creating more U.S. jobs? It is simply greed and failure to compromise! Flush them all and start from scratch!

Just make sure all the newbies are neither Democrats nor Republicians.

The Washington Post nominated Congress for the entity "having the worst year ever," for failing to live up to even the remarkably low expectations the public has for it.

I'm outraged! I'm appalled! Why, I'd love to get a group together and march down to the Capitol and drag the whole lot out into the streets and . . .

. . . but I'm too busy posting on AD.

. . . and Switched At Birth season premiere will be on in a few weeks!

. . . and it's almost time for the playoffs!

. . . and I need a beer!

. . . hmm, that's funny; I thought there was something I was thinking about doing. Oh well. tasty!

Now I want a porter!

As I recall, back in September Obama wanted a one year extention. Now he wants two months.........the wind must have change.

Naw, the wind hasn't changed. It is still carrying that same old GOP stink.

Ah, quite the DILEMMA we have here

He does want it extended for a full year! Do you even know how or why the two month plan is even being proposed? Some people are just to blinded by ideology. Why couldn’t Republicans just pass a clean bill instead of attaching a bunch of riders to it?

It's because they want something bigger like jobs for America! Aka; the pipeline across America! And since this tax cut has only been temporary it hasn't been that much of a break for most people. I agree that we are over taxed and that we should get the tax break but that is just the tip of the iceberg!

I just learned this morning that the US debt is now 2% greater than the GDP.

Good news - Republicans just caved in and agreed to two month extension deal -
"(Reuters) - House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Thursday caved in to a growing chorus of criticism from both within and outside his Republican party and agreed to a short-term deal to extend a payroll tax cut for 160 million Americans....Republican leaders feared fierce backlash from voters in the 2012 elections and many Republican lawmakers were already getting an earful from constituents back home. Had the deal failed to materialize, they were looking at an effective $1,000-a-year tax increase on the average worker starting on January 1.

"If they had continued to dig in on this they risked losing the Senate in 2012 and handing President Obama the election without even having a fight," said Ford O'Connell, a Republican strategist."

Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly but it looks like to me the Republicans clearly voted in favor of it and the Democrats clearly voted against it? Am I wrong?

Sadly not many realize this "payroll tax cut" is just a fancy way of borrowing from SS and Medicare
