Autumn of Change: CNN stories marking the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall - Special Reports from CNN.com
It is one of the moments that I had ever loved to cherish and remember in my lifetime. Where was I at that time? I was a Gallaudet student. I returned to my dorm from the flopped campus party and I saw some students watching on TV at around 11:00 p.m. in the students lounge which was unusual to me. I asked them what was going on TV and one of them told me that the Berlin Wall fell. My eyes were widened and joined them to watch it. They asked me alot of questions and for my opinions cuz I was a politcal science major at that time. a few days later, my political science class debated over the impacts about the fall of Berlin Wall, possible reunification between West and East Germany and the relationship between the west and east in details for two straight class sessions. |

I don't really remember exactly what I was doing, but I never really saw it on television until years later when I saw a documentary preview of it.

Truly a great day in history.
I was at home, and we saw the wall coming down on TV. It was very dramatic. I was old enough to remember people dying in their attempts to escape communist Germany before the wall came down. Unfortunately, some of my local friends didn't see the whole thing on TV because they were either still without electricity or living without all their stuff because Hurricane Hugo had destroyed their homes six weeks earlier.

It's too bad that President Obama turned down German president Angela Merkel's invitation to attend the ceremony. He found plenty of time to visit Berlin when he was campaigning but can't manage to make time for this momentous occasion.

Wow, that's worse than showing up on the wrong day in the Netherlands, since it was traditional for Canadians to visit the Netherlands to honour Liberation Day, and expecting people to cheer for him. (And yes, our prime minister did that a few years ago.) I hope he has a good reason to turn down the invite to go to the Berlin Wall.
