Yep. Same here. With that man standing next to a trillion dollars of rows and rows and rows of crates is mind boggling. Even that science video on the factor of ten is amazing. A trillion miles seems like nothing to many people but even if you travel at 10,000 miles per hour in space it'd still take you 11,415 years to reach a trillion miles.

Mind boggling. Even if you think 10,000 mph is fast but to put it relatively that number gets very, very small.

It's all relative!

It's a video that starts at the sub-atomic scale showing a computer rendition of what quarks look like and then factor that size/scale by ten then it eventually get to the size of an atom, then it progresses to a leave then tree then up in the atmosphere seeing a dot of a tree below then to space..keeps going til it's light years away from earth.

What does it have to do with a cartoon about illegal immigrants?

This is also just a cartoon and I found it humorous, too.

Two policeman with one holding a gun already fired two shots into a crazed monkey's chest who lie dead sprawled on his/her back on the city sidewalk and one policeman says: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." This was drawn after a highly publicized event about an actual monkey that gone crazy after an owner's friend.
See story - CHIMPANZEE GOES NUTS AND TRIES TO KILL WOMAN - Charla Nash - Zimbio
The cartoon picture, the thread creator posted is the truth. Iīm sorry that you donīt like but itīs truth.

The picture of 2 police officer and dead chimp is not the same example as the thread creator posted.

Iīm surprised that you find it funny that the cartoonist refered dead Travis who attacked lady, was shot by police officer 2 days before the picture of 2 police officers, dead chimp and stimulus package went to the public.

To me, the way of cartoonistīs interpretation that Obama should be assassinated over that economic stimulus package. He use chimp because of color and ears.

Thatīs why I donīt find those picture funny.

Again. All relative and that's from your perception and opinion. The cartoonist stated clearly it wasn't about Obama but about the runaway (i.e. crazy) stimulus package that would cost taxpayers 3/4 of trillion dollars.

As I said before, this is should not be the thread for this if the poster simply wanted the cartoon to be funny, there is another thread. Otherwise let the roasting begin and let everyone be entitled to his/her opinions on the cartoon. I kind of find it hipocrtical that folks are judging folks for judging the cartoon, now thats funny Remember, the nature of the cartoon to begin with was in fact politcal.

Oh and by the way-to be policially correct, it's native American-not Indian

Astutely put!

That cartoon is indeed under a political thread and not in the funnies section. Hence, open for discussion under politics.

The interpretation of the cartoon picture, the thread creator posted is the truth.

And the other thread creator forwarded the link including picture from the media. The media pick the cartoon picture and wrote their view to the public because they know a lady was being attacked by Travis, chimp 2 days before the cartoonist draw the picture. Itīs poor judgment.

Do you know who Steve Kelley is, the cartoonist? His cartoons is known to convey messages in a story. And it helps to know that he is right of center, too. That explains it all. Just go and look at his other political cartoons and you'll understand.

No. Nothing about truth. He, the guy who started the monkey thread, merely asked for thoughts from readers about the cartoon and the ensuing, supposedly, manufactured outrage.

Besides, interpretation doesn't mean truth but a matter of perspective and opinion.

Please tell me this entire thread is just one big joke. In case it's not, here's a few points.

1. 1 trillion = 1,000,000,000,000 = 10^12 = a thousand billion = a million million. It's possible to perfectly understand what a trillion is and become detached from how truly gigantic a number it is. That's especially easy for people in the sciences who become accustomed to numbers like 6.02 x 10^23, 10^80, or even 10^(10^118). A visual may help some (especially visual types) and it does not bear on their level of intelligence or education.

2. One does not need a Ph.D. to be smart or knowledgeable. Bill Gates dropped out before getting his bachelor degree.

3. One does not need to be smart to get a Ph.D. There may be an exception to that in some fields, like theoretical astrophysics. But in most fields, it usually means a person is hardworking and dedicated.

4. The cartoon's clever, but cliched by now. I've seen numerous variations of the same joke.

5.

Are you sure you want to go there? Because you're sitting in a glass house surrounded by nothing but rocks. Picking one up and throwing it is really not a good idea.

When sarcasm is used it is sometimes sign of defensiveness, especially of one's ego being challenged. Easily recognized in some cases.

To answer your question -- no -- I do not know who Steve Kelley is. I'm totally blind, remember?

Having said that, I do not need to know who he is to appreciate the humor of his cartoon unlike some people.
