UN don't got balls to back up its resolutions. Here comes the U.S. and NATO to save the day..... :roll:
 
I'd like to address to Maria about her frequent comments about UN taking over USA. I mean... why??

There's some New World Order ideology floating around. Go figure!
 
When I was a kid in the mid 1950s-60s, I thought the UN was a great agent for worldwide peace (a la The Day the Earth Stood Still). Every Halloween I would "Trick or Treat for UNICEF" so I could send money to the poor kids in undeveloped countries. I was very idealistic. :)

I know differently now. :(

I know... me too..... I was even inspired by Jean Claude van Damne as UN general from Street Fighter movie.

UN.... a bold & noble cause but.... :tears:

UN is a war organization, not a peace organization. I know some people will say that the UN is a peace organization. As for me, I don't think so.

Oh dear...

:eek3: UN is not a military organization. They tend to use peace-keeping missions to keep peace between warring countries or groups.

On other hand, The UN is becoming more and more irrelevant and less powerful lately. The power of veto by five countries (USA, UK, China, Russia and France) need to be taken out because one or more of them tend to prevent reasonable measures and acts that the Security Council has voted to pass or adopt.

In short, I prefer the UN is to be replaced by a better and stronger International organization whose headquarter would be located in a neutral country like Switzerland with strong commitments and actions on acts and measures which would not require a power of veto.

I absolutley do not understand how anyone could come up with the notion that the UN is a war organization. The fundamental purpose of the UN has always been peace keeping.

But I do agree that they are becoming les powerful and more irrelevent. The notion of peace is not high on a lot of people's priority list anymore, it would seem.
 
I don't support UN anymore but really long story about in previous, no question asked.

I'm pro-NATO.

I did not say that UN is NOT a military organization. If, the UN wanted to call itself a "peacekeepin'" organization, then their primary instrument of peace is war.

May I ask : How was United Nations founded ?

Already did before you posted. I've researched about UN in the past, not yesterday or the day before or the week before. I've researched about them in years ago. :)

uh.... no? they do not shoot nor attack. most of time - they do not even shoot nor attack for self-defense! Please explain to me why you think UN is a war organization.

and my work colleague just chuckled about this. He's from Bulgaria and he's on student visa couple years ago. He's not even American and he even knew more about UN than you... you should be ashamed of yourself. :nono:

I did not say that I knew ALOT more than anyone. I was doin' it for my education. You should be ashamed of yourself for that. :nono:

You don't need to know a lot about UN but point is - you got the very basic, simple definition of UN wrong. completely wrong.

All of your questions can be answered at U.N. site. It's in simple English too. I'll even let you use wikipedia.

I'm confused regarding the logic here. How is it that yu have reached the conclusion that their primary instrument of peace is war?
 
Regardless of its original charter, the UN management became corrupt.

The UN "peacekeepers" do use blue-helmeted military enforcers.

right and they do have APC and guns but major difference is - they do not engage in military conflict. they are nothing more than armed watchmen for peacekeeping participants (doctors, nurses, Red Cross, etc) and refugee camps.
