Will it get ugly here?

As Election Day gets closer, will it get ugly here on AD among the debates? I wasnt a member of AD during the last Election so did things become uncomfortably warm here?

I am interested to see what the next few days will bring with all the mudslinging. Yep, I am gonna reach for my

LOL!

I'm also eager to see what will happen over the next few days -- particularly on election day. I love to debate politics, so you can bet that I will be participating in all of the threads that concern the election. (Don't worry, I'll play nice. )

And if McCain wins, I'll admit that I was wrong all along.

It's getting tiring--that's for sure.

With early voting in some states, foreigner's coming on the boards to tell us who to vote for, campaign ads on t.v. non-stop, early partying for a candidate because they have a lead, etc, etc, etc.....

The real truth will happen eventually on Election day when the results are counted.

It may be to our favor or it may not be.

I just wish people would respect those that haven't voted yet.

It's the day after I am curious about......

Playing nice is boring! Just kidding! I will try to participate as much as I can. I do not have a strong political background like some of you so I will do my best.

If McCain wins, it's going to take every ounce of my being to play nice.

Don't worry about not having a strong background in politics, Shel. Anything you can contribute will make for an interesting discussion!

I remember when I debated with wonderful and open-minded ADers at Election 2004. They see me in human being, not foreigner. They make me feel warm welcome.. .they don´t mind to accept my different POV... Now at Election 2008? I noticed that there´re some anti-foreigners around here whines over foreigner´s POV which is really sad. I miss old ADers, I made good debate with, are not here for long time.. . IF there´re more and more anti-foreigners around here then I will ask Alex to close my account.

Good thing is I have American co-workers who work in the same Division where I work, we debate over Election 2008... They are proud of us (Europeans) for show our interest on their US polities. They accept and understood that US economcy and war issues are my biggest concern that´s why I involve in US polities because econocmy and war issues affect many countries around the world.

for listening.

I do not see anything that foreigners tell you which candidates you should vote to.

Please donīt make false statement because I see none of foreigners tell Americans to vote which one.

Liebling, read all of dreama's posts. (She's from Europe.)

Throughout this election, she has posted articles in support of McCain/Palin and against Obama. (Not that there's anything wrong with that -- I'm just stating a fact.)

In some of her posts, she has criticized and insulted Obama supporters. (To be fair, I'm guilty of doing the same to McCain supporters.)

So? Liebling posted articles in support of Obama and against McCain/Palin. I see no differences.

Hear Again, yes Angel is right that I support Obama against McCain/Palin in many threads due my reason is economy and war issues. I also hope for ALL americans is HEALTH CARE... as the same as Dreama support McCain/Palin against Obama over abortion issues.

Dreama is British.

Go back and re-read my post, Angel. I said there was nothing wrong with posting information about McCain/Palin.

Do I have to spell it out for you, Angel? I was pointing out to Liebling that dreama was one person responsible for telling other ADers how to vote. Get it?

To be fair: I definitely don't mind dreama and Liebling (and other "foreigners") stating their opinion. In fact, I welcome it because Im curious about what other countries think about us. However, I can see why people are upset about dreama because a few posts of hers can be taken as insults. I didn't see anything that Liebling said that can be taken as an insult. That can be due to AD being mostly pro Obama and dreama is being attacked by many so she feels that she needs to attack back.

Frankly, I cannot understand why are you being so defensive. Honestly, I don't see her telling members how to vote when I see it as stating an opinion.

Beside I see a lot of Obama supporters on this forum, Dreama is being attacked a lot more than Liebling has anyhow.

Don't let people frustrate ya. There's plenty of that already, no matter where we might be. I think it is awesome for differing POV and opinions....especially ones that may be coming "from the outside within" Every election I find it distasteful that if an individual does not vote because they "do not like whos running for pres, governor, senate etc. It is very shallow of them and ungrateful for a democracy privilage we have. Not to mention if ANYBODY has voted regularly there are much more items within your regional/states ballots that are of great importants and possibly for or against your personal value systems. It is a great feeling (to me) to do my homework on candidates, POV, facts vs myths, new propositions, ammendments and local, state, and national electorals, then proudly vote and go home and thank God for another year of freedom.
