McCain's Naval Academy classmate & fellow POW speaks out

A friend emailed me this link a short while ago. It leads to a statement from a classmate of McCain's at the Naval Academy, and also who was imprisoned as a POW with McCain. It is a very interesting read, from one who was there.

Why I Will Not Vote for John McCain

Surprise, his fellow POW doesn't think he is qualified. Good point on other POWs having been there longer than McCain and being in worse shape. So I don't understand why McCain got all the attention and did not display enough humility.

I didn't realize that you had posted the same link. I just received this in an email last night.

Because he is trying to capitalize, in a very personal way, on his POW experience. He is playing to the sympathy vote. I, personally, am more concerned with the Vietnam vets that don't have the public arena in the way he does, and continue to suffer. McCain doesn't appear to be very concerned about them, but only of using his POW status to his personal advantage.

Bingo.

That's the whole point of criticism lobbed towards McCain's abuse of his POW status.

He came back, dumped his disabled wife, married a beer company heiress and lived happily after ever.

My uncle (not a POW though) came back from Vietnam and went into hiding. That was it.

See my point? McCain has had it easy while other vets have not.

I am not surprised on many points. That includes the hot head personality that I thought he might be. I, for some reason, sense the the "continuing loss of individual freedom" when thinking of McCain as president. No, thanks.

I get surprised that his torture is a mystery and not many have come across acknowledging the extent of the truth of the story.

No wonder he selected Sarah Palin with no real real sense of contribution to the USA, but to get it easy. I really don't understand why she was picked. I just know that Cindy McCain played a role in selecting her. Her only statement was that she's a mom like all others balancing her schedule, but there was no real talk about why she'd be good for our country.
