Paris’ mom takes offense at McCain’s humor

Paris’ mom takes offense at McCain’s humor

WASHINGTON - Paris Hilton's mother doesn't share John McCain's sense of humor.

McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, said last week that his campaign ad mocking Democrat Barack Obama with images of Hilton and singer Britney Spears was part of an attempt to inject humor into the presidential race.

On Sunday, Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton, a McCain donor, registered her disapproval.

"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs," Kathy Hilton said in a short article posted on the liberal Huffington Post Web site. "And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States."

The ad plays on Obama's popularity by dismissing him as a mere celebrity, like Hilton and Spears. The Obama campaign has said the ad is proof that McCain would rather launch negative attacks than debate important issues.

McCain on Friday denied that his campaign had taken a negative turn, saying, "We think it's got a lot of humor in it, we're having fun and enjoying it."

Kathy Hilton, however, was unpersuaded, calling the ad "a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign."

Kathy Hilton and her husband donated a total of $4,600 to McCain's campaign earlier this year.

I´m glad that Kathy Hilton has spoken up because it´s not first time that McCain insult people with nasty names!!!!!!

Yes McCain also owe Paris Hilton and Britty Spears an apology, too. Germans are waiting for McCain´s apology for insult them with unnecassary names ( http://www.alldeaf.com/war-political...ns-remark.html )

It wasn't an "attempt to inject humor into the campaign". as McClain claims after he was called on it. It was an attempt to cast Obama in a negative light to all the right wing conservatives.

Dirty politics!

Britney, Paris Air Savage Anti-McCain Ad
Party Gals Slam Mac in Negative Spot

One day after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) broadcast an anti-Obama ad in which he compared the presumptive Democratic nominee to celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, the two tabloid mainstays fought back with an eviscerating anti-McCain spot of their own.

While Mses. Spears and Hilton said they had planned to remain on the sidelines during the 2008 presidential campaign, Sen. McCain's negative ad "left us no choice," the notorious party gals said today.

"We don't mind John McCain going after us if he sticks to the facts," Ms. Spears said at a New York press conference. "But we are sick of the distortions about our record."

Ms. Hilton said that the McCain ad appeared to link herself and Ms. Spears to Sen. Obama, leading the casual viewer to conclude that the three of them had "the same energy policy."

"Nothing could be further from the truth," said Ms. Spears. "Both of us strongly favor off-shore drilling to reduce our dependence on foreign oil."

Ms. Hilton said she was also "offended" by the implication that she and Ms. Spears favor a tax on electricity: "We have both been very clear on that issue."

In their anti-McCain spot, the two starlets fight fire with fire, comparing Sen. McCain to the Joker from the smash-hit film "The Dark Knight."

"It's perfectly fair," Ms. Spears said of the ad. "They both have pasty white faces and totally creepy smiles."

Elsewhere, Chinese Olympic officials confiscated the poles of the pole vaulting team to prevent athletes from going over the wall.

Therefore he doesn't seem to have anything to say positive about himself and his country...

"old grumpy man"? To me, he's acting like a 7 years old...

Anyway, it look like that Brittany and Paris might sue McCain & his campaign for use their photos for political reasons???????? I would not surprise if they DID!

It's so funny to me but it doesn't means I'm support him, he's very weird person.

No it's McCain's intent.

I see why not since Kathy told the media how she feel about McCain's public behavior.

What's Germany is do with this thread here? Its about Kathy Hilton's feeling over McCain's behavior manner, not Germany.

Because everyone on AD knows that you being a German always slam USA and the Americans.

Anytime I debate with you--I want to vote for McCain and continue on the Republican leadership out of spite.

If this thread is about Kathy Hilton's feelings--there is only 2 posts mentioning her. The reason why is because most of us DON'T GIVE A SH** about Paris Hilton and her mom.

Who cares?! I don't

1.) Who is everyone? I only know is you and very few ADers...

2.) I am not a German.

3.) I do not see anything that I slam USA and Americans... The problem is your assumption. I befriend with many open-minded (come and go) Americans in real life for almost 23 years and had been here in AD for over 4 years. I befriend with ADers in real life... We have no problem because we are open-minded and respect each other over our different culture.

This is your decision.

If you don't then don't post here instead of look for an arguement. This is a simple.

Oh yes, Obama is not German but American... It doesn't make me anti-American when I support him.

In every election, both candidates say the worst things that are even marginally true about each other.

By the election, I hate both sides equally.

Why should we debate mudslinging that always happens?
