I'm not sure if what I said was edited, not by me, but it is part of U.S. and World History and is in print. If you'd like, I can reference the link and you and everyone else can sue them for saying it. Racist remarks, even in history, are history. Sue the people that said it, as it's part of public record. I wrote a tame version of what MacArthur actually wanted to do and also what the president told him at that time. If we don't like something, does that change history, Chase? May I remind you that, as a newbie yourself here and with all due respect, you're also older than I am, you should know your U.S. and World history. What will we start editing because someone doesn't like something? Sure, I pop my chops regarding the confederate flag, so does many other people. It's part of history, so none of us can change it, can we? Much history is ugly, racist and very derogatory and we, as a society as a whole (now), are quick to censor every little thing. I'm not saying to allow those words, which I did not. I was paraphrasing and not quoting. Now, if the word I used shortened the country's name into four letters without any vowels except the "a," it's not a derogatory comment, nor racist.

Personal comments about other members strictly at an end, the good news is . . .
Facts of history must never be changed. Ever. By anyone. History can be taught, discussed, dissected, and argued without racist remarks or words. By analogy, relationships between men and women can be discussed without giving the other genital names. However, in the case of racist epitaphs, it’s the law in schools accepting U.S. federal funds, and it’s the rule here at AllDeaf. Call it “politically correct” or whatever, in reality it’s “polite courtesy.” If examples of past hate words or phrases are needed, then they can be introduced as such and quoted, but must be never part of the commentary. It’s that direct and simple. Back on the topic of political polls, it's wonderful that in this country we can freely lampoon and even hate elected officials from the president on down. But even there, we have limits. Threats, even implied threats, are dealt with harshly . . . and that's probably not a bad thing. |

yeah if the right or wrong person hears you 'jokingly' say that your'e planning to murder an elected official your'e more than likely going to find your keister in a pot of boiling water.
Around my workplace you have to be careful of what you say and how you say it because it can get twisted and gets back to the head boss and your butt is disciplined accordingly. With the co-workers I have I keep my comments to myself about certain people becase they are the ones that like to retaliate and its never pretty for either party. We've had slapping fights on the line between two hispanic ladies over a man.

I heard this outrageously insane comment from somewhere - maybe article or tv. An expert said Congress and majority of Democrats were very hesitant to start impeach process against Bush and Cheney because they feared they would launch attack against Iran. That means Bush and Cheney will extend their length of administration to... who knows - 1 more year? 2 more? It coulda happen! ![]() You may say "bullshit that's never gona happen. It's unconstitutional." Well... that's what people said about Patriot Acts, Habeas Corpus, Gitmo Camp, Geneva Convention..... ![]() btw - I'm not Bush-supporter but just don't get blindly angry. |

Yeah, we discussed Harry S in this thread. His motto was "The buck stops here" in an time when the buck of responsibility was quickly passed in Washington, D.C. Anyway, Harry's dismal presidential rating had much to do with sacking popular MacArthur before he nuked North Korea and places farther north.
World historians have pretty much vindicated Truman. After all the shouting dies down, the same could happen for George II. |
