Well, with Linux, you won't be seeing GIMP and Linux isn't easy to mess up the files like M$ does!

Linux is not easy to learn. It is free but sucks for many people. It is mainly for experienced people. Sometimes, I think of installing Linux at my computer but it would require hard work.

This is why I do not use Gimp. I use Photoshop 7.

Did you try deleting the files in C: (or whatever disk you use) > Program Files > Gimp (or whatever folder it's in)?

Pacman, what was the version number of the GIMP program that you used ? I visited the main site of the GIMP , there are new and unstable versions that are not designed for end user.

GIMP on what platform? pc or mac?

I have GIMP for Mac OS X and it requires X11 installed.

Configuring and Running X11 Applications on Mac OS X (read the installation part for X11 install)
GIMP.app Gimp.app - UNIX & Open Source

Or if you are a Photoshop users (used PS at college or at work but can't afford one for home use) GIMPShop - UNIX & Open Source (be sure to read this about missing plugin at: Missing Plug-ins for Gimpshop 2.2.11 OS X at Plastic Bugs )

I had used GIMP on Windows and got messed up then uninstalled then recovered my computer to remove all corrupt files and it looks normal again.

Now, I use Print Shop Pro 8.

If I'm Mac user then I will rather to use Photoshop.

I am going to get download GIMP soon after this. I fixed my laptop everything from start. Now it runs faster and better than I expected. I used GIMP on Mac OS X that seems ok but never problem with it. I had to learn much from GIMP possible similar to Photoshop experiences.

I am no longer upset and am getting to know GIMP. With my lesuire time I usually play with GIMP tools. It's free and quite powerful what can do for me. I will change some of my signature later. Possibly it needs more touch. Latest version is stable and simple now. My girlfriend said awww and loves my signature. My experience will change from beginner to expert someday.
