What is the best controller ever??

I just take some quote summary from DualShock's 10th Anniversary [source]

Quote:
May 2, 2008 - Ten years ago this week, Sony launched the very first DualShock controller for the original PlayStation. Jettisoning the launch controller, which featured only a traditional d-pad on its face, the DualShock was an important part of the 2D-to-3D revolution that swept gaming in the 32-bit generation. Each of the big three consoles -- PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and the Saturn -- embraced analog-style control sticks that made controlling a character in a 3D environment more intuitive and natural.
Quote:
All three console makers were now analog, but they missed the second half the evolutionary cycle for 32-bit controllers: Rumble. Like the analog push, Nintendo lead the charge with the release of the Rumble Pak for the N64 controller. Shipped with Star Fox 64 in 1997 (in all territories), this add-on jolted the N64 controller with tactile feedback. Rumble was such a hit that Sony revisited the design of the Dual Analog Controller to add vibration. The result was the DualShock, which became the standard controller for the remainder of the PlayStation lifecycle and was gently updated for the 2000 release of the PlayStation 2.
Quote:
Immersion sued both Microsoft and Sony in 2002 for patent infringement over the inclusion of vibration in their respective controllers. (Nintendo escaped litigation because the design of the GameCube controller was different and protected under its own patent.) Immersion had patented its vibration system in 1995, predating both the DualShock and the Xbox controllers by years. Microsoft quickly settled its part of the suit out of court by buying into Immersion. Sony, however, fought the case and eventually lost. Sony was ordered to pay Immersion $82 million in damages (fees and interest raised the total to just over $90 million), but an appeal blocked Sony from having to pull the DualShock series of controllers from stores.

lol, hello PC gamer.

Keyboard and mouse are best for simulation games, such as The Sims 2, Sim City and others, also great for FPS and TPS games.

I agree... plus, that design is definitely better than the original bulky design.

If you play Halo, you'll see the design of the original controller in the game's settings.

The best controllers I ever had was the original xbox's Controller-S and the 360's too.

Right now Im using an imported DualShock 3 in white that I got off ebay 2 months before Sony released the black DS3 into the US. The L2 and R2 buttons could use some improvement especially when playing MotorStorm or Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

If I remember Ben Heckendorn put the Sixaxis electronics into the 360 controller's body. Now that's what I would really love to get my hands on, but unfortunately Im not that good at electronics

I prefer Playstation 1 and 2 controller the best, and I dislike N64, GameCube, Xbox (all), because they feel like I am holding a big susage!

I forgot to mention something about the Wii controller. I tried the wii controller at the GameStop and I was like forget it! Id rather have analog sticks. Perhaps my girls wont mind the wii controllers after all they're young and they will get used to them than I do. I've grown up getting so used to hitting buttons and mashing the joysticks since the '70's.

I've owned alot of videogames stuff over the years so if you want an opinon of mine, I guess the best controller I've ever held in my hands so far is the xbox360 controller. I thought it was proably the best design I've ever seen so far in this generation. The dual shock 3 controller proably is the second best to me with the loose triggers included, proably to improve for FPS games and such. Third is GameCube controller thou I still use it for alot for some VC games and Wii games, but the GameCube controller is pretty bad for playing super nes games on Wii so classic controller is best to go. The classic controller is just okay thou it's alot like the super nes controller with analog sticks included and of course, what sucks is that it lacks rumble but oh well.

The playstation has been using the very same controller for more than 10 years now til it slightly changed with the PS3 of the loose trigger buttons but thats actually nothing to worry about. It's still pretty much the same design after all so I wonder if Mircosoft would keep that controller design of the Xbox360 controller for future consoles? Only time can tell...besides, there've been rumors that Microsoft is producing a motion sensor remote control similar to Wii's. So who knows which would be better...but I doubt it would very much beat Wii over that stuff cause its alittle too late for Microsoft to produce something like that...proably best to wait til the next generation.
