Bye Bye SDTV Hello HDTV...heh
I was planning on going to a Black Friday sale to pick up a LCD widescreen HDTV, but suddenly I had the case of the dreads of being run over by a crowd at the Walfart or Best Buy so I decided I might pick one up early.
So I picked up a Samsung SyncMaster 940mw 19" widescreen LCD combination HDTV/computer monitor for 325 at the Best Buy. When I got the monitor home, tossed out my old RCA 19" XL100 SDTV and connected the 360 to it thru the HDAV cables, the difference was soo like day and night. I have to agree with Steelx on that once I get a taste of 1080i there is no way in hell I am going back to SDTV. Playing PGR3 on the old SDTV and the HDTV really showed the details especially in the interiors of the cars. SDTV, I couldnt read the damn text and I keep swearing I needed glasses Right now I'm trying to copy my laptop's desktop over to the HDTV but Im still running into a bit of problems that I'll figure out as I go on. Anyways Im attaching the before n after pics of the new gaming setup... |

yeah I have it set to 1080i but going to try 1080p like we discussed about at xbox Live.
I'm still messing with the settings to optimize it and make it run mch better. Another thing I have noticed is that the response the Samsung makes its response rate at 8ms was so blazing fast every time I make a move on the 360's controller. When I played on SDTV, the controls felt so slow to refresh on it. I find that interesting. Bonus was it came with a remote. No other VGA monitors in Best Buy had the remote like the Sammy. I found another Sammy a regular 19" LCD HDTV, but it was on sale for 399. It took me a hour to decide which Sammy I would take home...what a delicious dilemma I had today. |

Same goes 4 u too man. I tried 1080p found I may need to use VGA cable to get to 1080p. HDAV will top out on 1080i on the Sammy.
For now it is set on 720p as I am concerned that the GPU in the 360 will be pushed to extremes when I play on 1080i/1080p generating so much heat. |

Sablescort, you dont really have to get VGA if you already got HD-AV cables, then you should be fine.
HD-AV cables and VGA dont have any major differences expect that thru VGA can play 1080p, but 1080p isnt that much common as 720p and 1080i are so I would rather use 1080i thru HD-AV cables cause I rather play games on a TV than a montior cause I just most often use it as the computer than games so...either HD-AV cables or VGA is just optinal when it comes to HD. |

lol well my 940mw has been on the 360's HDAV cables since I got the HDTV. The laptop is hooked to the VGA port and a clone of the laptop's screen is displayed on the HDTV. The HDTV on the 360's HDAV cables is set on 1080i right now. |
