Please chill out...

He means if any people don't own or can't afford HDTV but only own monitor with VGA then they can get VGA cable to get HD quality.

Whoa...take it easy chuchin and take the chill pill man...

But if HDTV or VGA has nothing to do with HD gaming then what, really? I could obviously see the difference on Gears of War in between SDTV and my VGA montior so...I thought the visuals were really the best you could see with your own eyes on VGA monitor instead and looks as sharp as ever like a PC game. So since your gonna make a thread about it maybe you could bring someone with you to make the explainton easier but still...I liked using the VGA better than nothing.

I would say about big but its not that bad...I could say about 2.35:1 or so...much like watching a widescreen movie on a full screen. Also if you played Resident Evil 4 on gamecube, then you'll know what I'm talking about...since it shows two black bars in between also.

Quality-wise, BR and HDDVD seem to be the same, but if anyone can clrify that, that'd be swell.
It is true that BD can carry more gbs than a regular DVD but somewhere I heard that HD-DVD have better picture and sound than blu-ray do so...I cant say its true unless it is true. lol who knows? I've seen the blu-ray display at best buy with fei ku like last month when theres a HDTV and a blu-ray player showing and showing some movies like Utlravolent (sp?) and the visuals is very impressive...in fact the visuals is much better than in SDTV or even in theatres! lol

Don't twist my words right there. I never say vga cable has nothing do with HD gaming. Don't worry, Steel. Today, I will create a thread the definitation of HD with three main topics including HDTV, HD gaming, HD-DVD & Blu-Ray movies. There are three minor topics such as built in HDTV, HDTV support, and etc. The images will be showen.

1.5 How much data can you fit on a Blu-ray disc?

A single-layer disc can hold 25GB.
A dual-layer disc can hold 50GB.

To ensure that the Blu-ray Disc format is easily extendable (future-proof) it also includes support for multi-layer discs, which should allow the storage capacity to be increased to 100GB-200GB (25GB per layer) in the future simply by adding more layers to the discs.

1.6 How much video can you fit on a Blu-ray disc?

Over 9 hours of high-definition (HD) video on a 50GB disc.
About 23 hours of standard-definition (SD) video on a 50GB disc.

Please do create that thread. It's almost a concidence, I had the idea yesterday to create a HD FAQ for the Video Game board, because HD is a term so loosely used and not so well understood. Call it " AD Video Game HD FAQ" or something along the likes of that. I myself only understand bits and peices of HD, and have no idea what the p or the i is for in 1080i or 1080p... Do englighten us, DefMatrixense. Either that, or I'll start the thread tomorrow.

At Future Shop (a Canadian electronics store), they're selling HD-DVD drive for Xbox 360 at $199.99 CDN (Canadian) with the movie, King Kong (HD-DVD) and King Kong, the game for Xbox 360 along with a Microsoft television remote.

That's quite a deal, I must say. Remember, our currency are different. However, I find it strange that Americans are buying it at $199 US while we are buying it at $199 CDN.

I thought MS is using methods to save alot of GB on DVD (dual-layer) and support HD quality and superior graphic, similar to PS3 since they are using BD.

Today I've tried Dead Rising in VGA HD and honestly, it IS a major improvement too...it has really beat SDTV so bad that it just...died lol.

I can read the subtitles very VERY clearly and is in bigger fonts as well. no joke! Why, I remember when I played that game on SDTV and I was near Jessie or Brad after the cutscenes were over and as I "talk" to them, the text is SO fucking bad you would burst your eyes like hell that you really need eye surgery...but in HD VGA, as I play the game like 5ft back or so, the text is so clear and readable than ever. and when I watched the cutscenes, the ppl looked so DAMN amazing! why, even Jessie's hair looks pure realistic its much like watching a CG movie (example: final fantasty 7: advent children) so with everything looking mighty fine on my VGA montior, I dont think I would EVER go back to SDTV ever again lmao.

Now that I got HD VGA, I still plan to get the HD DVD drive sometime perhas after the holidays lol.

That's because Dead Rising is a game desgined for HD. I am surprised that there isn't a option to change it for a SDTV. I guess the developers want everyone to play Dead Rising in HD.

Get PGR 3 then try to play on SDTV but fonts are horrible and picture isn't good as HD does.

I just got HD-Dvd yesterday. I compare with King Kong DVD and HD-DVD. My hdtv supports up to 1080i. When I put King Kong DVD in hd-dvd and see picture of movie was dry and gray on scene that I picked in end of movie with planes driving around. I can see lots of gray color. I pulled out dvd and exchange hd-dvd in there. Pick same scene. I dont see any gray. It is so clear and crisper. Amazing colors and pictures. I am telling you it is worth to buy and really good for our visuals. It is similar like you are in movie theater but little better than in movie theater. Movie still playing while I picked off other scene selection that is really good. I can not pick any scene selection while dvd movie playing. You have to go back to menu. Hd-dvd can! Subtitles looks more clear than dvd subtitles. I am looking at human faces and it is lot of redish on dvd. For hd-dvd, there are no redish and it is normal as human faces right now. It is much better than dvd so far. I have watch blu-ray movie before on circuit city. I can not compare because my tv is not same as circuit city tv anyway. I would say that I like hd-dvd right now. Sadly, that disney only goes to blu-ray, not hd-dvd. Hopefully hd-dvd will win. Disny can make both. Why not! It is possible.

They will figure out to release on both of them.
