Monty Python and The Holy Grail

I just bought a DVD of the movie (VHS of that has no CC on it) and I thought it was hilarious and totally different than American movies I've seen (mind you, it's British humor)

Any comments for those who has seen it before?

I'm curious to hear what Banjo has to say since he's a movie "critic"

This movie is def one of my all-time favourites. Monty Python and the Holy Grail has to be one of the funniest movies ever.

Yet, one of the most underrated movies in my opinion. Lucky, this movie has a cult of fans. I'm sure this movie isn't popular to the youth generation because they tend to watch crappy movies just because they look "cool."

This movie, I will recommend it to anybody who has a good taste in movies. Of course, like the person above said, it's British humour. It doesn't appeal to everybody, which may be the reason why some people don't care for the movie.

British Humour, such a wonderful thing to have.

Isn't that series of movies of Monty Python include John Cleese in it as well? And Eric Idle...Michael Palin and so forth?

I liked watching John Cleese's other show, 'The Fawlty Tower' series.

That group also made another types of movie series, well..ALMOST a series. 'A Fish Called Wanda' and 'Fierce Creatures'.

(those movies didn't have Eric Idle but Michael Palin was in it...along with Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline)

I love the movie. It appears corny to most modern viewers, but I find it funny.

I saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail on DVD, and I thought it was very funny. I've seen Monty Pytho and the Flying Circus but not with subs so I missed out on the humour. I didn't think A Fish Called Wanda was very funny and I haven't seen Fierce Creatures yet but I mean to!

The Holy Grail is pretty good but I liked Meaning of Life the best even though most people doesn't like it...

Here is my 3 favorite Monty Python movies in order:

Meaning of Life
Life of Brian
Holy Grail

If you already saw Holy Grail, I reccomend renting Meaning of Life and Life of Brian...

I'm trying to remember which Monty Python movie that has that sort of disgusting but funny scene where this extremely fat guy ends up swelling so much and exploded in a restuarant and causing a domino reaction of everyone vomiting everywhere from left to right?

WaterRats13-The part where the extremely fat guy ends up blowing up is in the movie "The Meaning of Life" It is gross but that's my favorite part besides the "Every Sperm is Sacred" Song.

Thanks for letting me know which one that was. I had seen it a few times AGES ago -- like over 15 years ago...so, hafta run to the video shop and pick it up...THAT's if they have it available on DVD AND have subtitles available!

WaterRats-They have Meaning of Life on DVD and it does have subtitles (I own Holy Grail, Life of Brian Crietion Collection, and Meaning of Life Special Edition on DVD).

If you picked the old version of Meaning of Life, it has closed caption but no english subtitles.

If you picked the special edition of Meaning of Life, it has no closed caption but it does have english subtitles.

To let you know that if you're planning to rent Life of Brian on DVD one day, you have to look for the Life of Brian Criterion Collection because it has english subtitles.

The regular version of Life of Brian does NOT have english subtitles or closed caption.

Actually, they recently released a new edition of Life of Brain, and it is closed captioned.

Yes, I know a new special edition of Holy Grail was released on DVD recently. But that didn't stop them from releasing a new edition of Life of Brian onto DVD. I think this is like the third edition so far, but I think it's the most bare-boned one of all.

FYI: The picture they're using on the website is incorrect since it is not the Criterion Edition. The Criterion edition costs way more since they have it too as well.

You're referring to the release by Anchor Bar Entertainment. The new one was recently released by Columbia Tri-Star.

It is possible that they haven't released this new edition in USA yet since I wasn't able to find it at Amazon or Best Buy. Somehow, this is the edition I wouldn't buy since it is formatted in full screen.

I know what I'm talking about, and take my words for it.

Interesting...yeah, I hate full screen movies but I do reccomend buying the Citieion collection, it has widescreen and the transfer is beautiful..it is worth the $40 bucks!

Yeah, I tried finding the DVD you're talking about on Amazon.com but I don't see it..I'm assuming it's released in Region 2???

No, Region 1.

I think it isn't out in USA yet. Region 1 cover both Canada and USA.

Hmmm...I can purchase any region types DVD's from all over the country -- as far as it has english subtitles available on them!

I have a multi-region dvd player...PLUS 4 other DVD players that run on Region 4 only (Australia). Those 4 are...the 2 pc's we have...the old DVD player that is in the bedroom and the PSX 2.
