Gasoline Prices (State-by-State)

Gasoline prices state-by-state

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) -- The current average price for regular gasoline in the United States is about $1.71, up from $1.62 a month ago, according to AAA. A year ago, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline was $1.69.

While the price rise from last year may seem modest, Geoff Sundstrom, a spokesperson for AAA , said the recent price increases are alarming because of the context of relative global stability in which they are occurring. Last year at this time, he pointed out, the United States was entering into a war in the Middle East.

Among the reasons for the current spike in prices, Sundstrom said, are new formulation requirements in several states and an increased reliance on imported oil and gasoline. Also, oil producing nations have cut back production.

The AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report is based on a survey of over 60,000 self-serve stations. (The Lundberg survey tracks prices at about 7,000 stations). The prices below are averages for each state as of March 4, 2004.

Bullymom, so if there are 3,81 litres in one gallon, that would make it $3 Canadian for one gallon, or $2.26 per gallon in American dollars.

I remember when I lived in Germany, it was about DM 1,79 for one litre of regular gasoline. That was about one dollar in American money, so gas costed $3.81 per gallon in Germany. I wonder how much it costs now in euros. Liebling, please let us know!

Yup, gas prices here in NY are just plain ridiculous...but there IS a place near us that charges $1.79 per gallon - it's a so-called "gas sale." LOL.

So, with 3,81 litres to a gallon, it would be €4,27 a gallon, or US$5,26 per gallon! Imagine trying to fill 10 gallons, it would easily come up to 52 dollars for a small car!

I alway fill 35 litres of gasoline cost between €39 and €41 into my Golf volkswagen. If it΄s cheaper than €1.05 then full tank.

San Diego- the lowest gas price is 2.10 for disel....

San Diego ranks first in the nation-wide for the highest gas prices...
Before the gas price skyrocketed, I could fill up a full tank for 17 bucks.. now it is 25 bucks. I ONLY HAVE A SMALL TOYOTA COROLLA, BASIC EDITION!

So ... be grateful that your gas prices hasn't hit 2bucks...

OH yeah- Something about gas prices- my boyfriend and I were dicussing about the difference between gas prices for each brand... and he pointed something very INTERESTING-
that there is no $2.22 in any gas station.. it is always 2.21, 2.23 but not 2.22.... did they run out of 2s to put on the billboard? So he challenged me to find it...
and I found it around the corner of my home. :-D

Now his new challenge- find a $6.66 for gas prices in the future (near future, probably given the rate in San DIego)

€40 would equal to US$49. I remember very well when I lived in Germany and had to pay about 65 DM for a tank. So, that is why I am thankful that we do not have similar prices in the United States. The German government imposes a lot of taxes on the gas, but the Germans do ride bikes and use trams and trains a lot. So, it is not as serious as it is in the US, because the American government was stupid to let cars take over the roads instead of subsiding money for the public transportation.

Yes, it΄s an exactly...
Alot of Germans use bicycles..., also train or bus with special offer...
Alot taxes on gas... yes, it΄s right... Here in Germany governments greed taxes out of our wages since € conversation in 2001. Terrible... We do all is think all the time is budget!!!
Funny is: Train, bus, etc are cheaper to ride than use the car with gas... to clean the country... Umweltfreundlich... Eniverment (wrong spell)

ugh dont get me started on high gas prices!

I just filled my car full of gas at $1.63 a gallon at the BP. Good thing it was my ZX2 Escort since she gets around 35 miles a gallon. The trip-o-meter read about 325 miles when I filled the car up. (my car can hold up to 12.5 gallons of gas in the tank) With the last fill-up of 9 gallons I could empty the tank at 450-500 miles.

If I used the Sable to commute to work daily, I'm going to be staring down at $20-30 to fill the Sable's 18 gallon tank *thud*

Now I should be thankful I aint driving a H2 Hummer or a Escalade, but I will be laughing for sure when one of these SUV's fill up next to me at the gas station!
