Hi everyone!

I will be leaving for FL tomorrow morning, to visit my mother and her husband (my step-father). I have to take care of her and her husband for 3-4 weeks, like driving, cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc.. both are not well, not really but my mother just has a pacemaker and her cardiologist told her that she is not allowed to drive for 3 weeks, at least because of that and my step-father has Alzheimer's... (They are almost in their 80's) I am worried about them.
I will be bored there, I know there are no Deaf people around, of course, I don't know them and they don't know me, either. I am in the Central Florida area. Do they have a Deaf club there? Do you know any events there??

Thanks for your help, everyone!

I went to Florida in 2004 and had a great time. Hope you enjoy your trip, even though it seems to contain more work than free time. There are some deaf/HOH users on AD that live in Florida that I'm sure you could meet. :)

Glad to hear that you had a great time down there. Thanks. I visit my parents every year since 1981, 2-3 times a year but I never stay there that long. 5-7 days. It will be my first time to stay 3-4 weeks. Yes, you are right that I will work more than free time. My mother's cardiologist found out yesterday that one of the leads from the pacemaker has moved. She will have to go back into the hospital on Monday to have it repaired. She should have to stay there for one night. My step-father is still in rehab, so no problem there.
I'd love to meet some Deaf/hoh/hearing AD'ers down there in FL but I am sure that they probably don't want to meet me because they don't know me that well. That's unfortunate. Oh, well... *sigh*
Thanks again. :)

Thanks for the links. I will check out those when I arrive there.
OK, I will do that. Thanks, Brian!

Thanks. Have a great weekend! :)

Last Tuesday, I had a smooth flight and arrived home safely.
I didn't have time to check all those links because I spent so much time to take care of my parents and also, my job (Mostly paperwork...I am done with it and sent it out to my boss last week.. Now, I am off from work. I will be returning to work after Labor's Day.. Whoo-hoo!!).
I spent my free time at the Vero beach on the weekends and sometimes during the week. The weather was so hot. The water was great unlike NYC and MA.. (I got sunburn once. It was my fault because I forgot to put some lotion on me. Duh, me... LOL.. After that, I was fine.. )
I am glad that my parents are OK. *phew*..
