R.V.'s and Travel Trailers are nice. At times. But you can not bring it to primitive camping! Which is my favorite type of camping.

I agree.

In a way it's nice to have a traveling trailer or an RV for a camp outing but it is not exactly the way camping is supposed to be because the purpose of a camping is to enjoy the natures/outdoor stuffs.

Sure, it is a comfort to have a traveling trailer/camper/RV to sleep in but what does not kill you won't kill you - even if there are bugs out there to make an attack, lol.

The only true fittest form to camping is to have nothing but just your sleeping bag and whatever is in your backpack to go out on a hike. It's the best survival at it's fittest.

Amen to that!

To me R.V.s and Campers are like hotels!

I do like camping, have been camping at a island in Columbia River between Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon, a forest area in Spokane, also area near The Dalles, Oregon, and at Long Beach Peninsula.

I love to bring a candle in the tent, it make me feel relax inside the tent rather than the flashlights and I love to burn the marshallows at the fireplace.

I don't mind the RV part, but it's the hot and humid summer that does get to me sometimes. If it was when it was a bit cooler, then I might enjoy it more.

My Dad and stepmom has a RV.... they would drag me and my stepsisters to go camping with them and we (me and my stepsisters) would dread it... we would complain and so on as we *hate* camping. My twin stepsisters and I share a bedroom... it has triple bunks... I would sleep in the middle while Ryann would sleep on the top since she's the smallest and Sara would sleep the bottom since she's the tallest/biggest. Also we have TV in our bedroom in RV. All day long, three of us would just lay in our bunks and watch movies.... we don't dare to go out and do camping stuff. our parents had enough that they kicked us out during the day, forcing us to stay outside during the day, to do camp stuff such as hiking and so on. I would either go swimming at Camp park or read books in the chair by the fire during the day. My stepsisters would either tan in the sun by the fire or go swimming like I do... or even try to catch good looking guys. Every summer for five years, our parents would drag us to camping in RV about four to five times during the summer. Also Dad would take us to far away campsites that can be up to six hours away... driving there and back is always horrible as Dad has Tahoe and there's only five seats, meaning my twin stepsisters and I have to sit all together in the backseat, not really having any room or privacy. We sometimes would get into fights as we get on each other's nerves.

Seriously? Can you ask him to get a bigger RV or car so everyone has some space instead of being cramped for 6 hours. I remember moving an apartment into a car and I was stuck in the front seat with 3 comforters in it. That was the worst 6 hours of my life as I couldn't move for days afterwards.

dreama, so cool, vegan camp where?

I also volunteered once for a week going camping in cabins with camp held for kids with spina bifida and other physical mobility issues.

I just came back from a week of camping. It was really nice and relaxing! Could have done without the number of miserable days we had though.

no offence to you or your poll but it seems like the people that would click on it to participate would have a bias audience
to me id think that mostly people who ar really die hard for this forum will take place in this poll or people interested in camping, do most of the no's and sorta's ar probably people who just go to almost every poll but i dont no for sure.

I voted sorta because I like the idea of camping, but I really don't like sleeping on the hard ground. The rest of it I love!

I'm a cub scout leader and I take the kids camping. It's not roughing it too much at this stage. It's too hot in Texas during the summer for camping so we'll be done after May.

You need to get yourself a hammock.

I am looking at one from Hennessey.

This is sounding like I'm gonna have to carry a lot! Maybe I should just rent a nice cabin in the mountains with a fireplace, bed and hot tub!

  • Going to a campground, camping in an numbered slot is NOT CAMPING.
  • Using a RV or a camper IS NOT CAMPING

I like camping but haven't did that in a pretty good while. I almost did last year but the weather was bad so we slept in a hotel instead.

I dunno, camping is what you want to make of it. Camping doesn't have a 30 point inspection checklist to meet a specific "roughing it" criterion. There are so many different environments/climates all around where camping serves each other many different experiences. I've camped on beaches in northwest, desolate desert in southern utah, wasatch and rocky mtns (utah, idaho, colorado, wyoming) NY, Mt white, western Pa, Virginia, Northern Ga, and SW Georgia, and I can tell you that everyone of those places were different than any of the others. There's things I'd refuse to go without in some of those places, and some of them much less neccessities desired.

If you want to get away from the city or life and enjoy nature in your own preferred way THEN that is camping.

you know. that just reminded me. a few weeks ago, I said - I wanted to do camping. My NYC friend said - sure let's go. and then somewhere in the middle of long conversation.... he did not realize that the camping I was talking about is the tent in middle of nowhere where you take a shit in the wood and bathe in the lake. I was very confused and I asked him what he thought what the camping is like. He said a tent at campground with shower/toilet.

....... and then I was like this -
